Hi, I'm Karoline! I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Music and performing arts Vienna and have been teaching for several years. Whether you are a complete beginner (of any age) or have been playing for many years - my lessons will be customized to fit you personal needs and goals. For me the most important thing is to pass down my passion for the instrument and music and to teach you how to be confident with your instrument. I can also prepare you for exams (i.e. entrance exams for a music university) and teach lessons in music theory and ear training. In my lessons I like to occasionally use methods from elementary music education, which focuses on musical expression. That way you can practice to express yourself and your feelings on the instrument and the typical fear of mistakes is being avoided. I teach in a beautiful room with a grand piano near the Belvedere. Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborate with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs. The theory of everything tends to be really scary and music theory can be too. I am very keen to make music theory easy for everyone. For some people there is only one way to tackle the unmentionable but I believe there are many different approaches and one of them will click with you. It is simply finding out what is best for each person. Once we find the key we can unlock the problems that have puzzled you for ages. Music theory needs to be more than a requirement, it needs to be the way to really appreciate the music you are playing. Certain aspects can also lead to additional practical skills such as improvisation which can be very useful as well as very enjoyable.
