However, diving into the wonders of the piano/keyboard can be a bit overwhelming... and that is where I come in! This course is for anyone from complete beginners to advanced students, from lessons that focus completely on classical music to lessons that include or focus on the basics of jazz/pop. If you like to sing, we can also work on the basics of jazz/pop vocal, so you can learn to accompany yourself at the piano. In our lessons, technique will be an inherent part of the training, as well as analysis, basic music theory, and efficient ways of practicing music. If that all sounds good to you, then please reach out to me and we can start ASAP! Lessons can be in English or Dutch. So who am I? In a nutshell, I am a professional pianist, vocalist, lyricist and blogger. Since 2014, I have taught in various music schools, teaching piano, ensemble, jazz vocal, and solfege. On a more elaborate note, I obtained my Master of Arts in classical piano, summa cum laude, at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (KASK) in 2017, and studied as a Fulbrighter at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington USA during the 2019-2020 academic year. Every day, I strive to become a better musician and person, and I aim to transfer that passion to my students.

I am currently studying jazz at the Vienna Music Institute (Conservatory of Contemporary Music). I have studied classical guitar for 5 years, electric guitar for another 5 years, and jazz guitar for a year and a half. I can teach you music theory concepts ranging from fundamentals like chords, intervals, scales, and arpeggios to the more advanced: circle of fifths, modes, tensions, and triads. Regarding the technical aspect of guitar playing, I can create a good practice routine for the improvement of different styles of playing such as alternate picking, fingerpicking, legato, taping, hybrid picking, economy picking, etc. Although these concepts may sound frightening at first, I can help you understand them more easily. The lessons are thought to be suitable for beginners who never picked up a guitar before, intermediate players who know some songs and fundamentals but don't know what to do next, and advanced players who want to deepen their skills. I can also help you build a good foundation for improvising over any tune you like, help you master composition, and teach you music-making and recording programs such as Reaper, to be able to start your solo projects. I will provide my personal insights regarding what I think you should improve, but I can also just help you learn something specific like a song you want to play.

As an active musician and educator, I am versatile - I enjoy playing classical, jazz, funk and Latin music and teaching students who are interested in different styles of music. The double bass and the electric bass are among the most important and versatile instruments in an ensemble, regardless of the style – funk, jazz, rock band or a classical orchestra. Amazing lessons full of fun, tailored to my individual needs and musical genre from very beginning. Strong focus to teach me how to play by ear, which will give me freedom to join the others in their jamming. Theoretical part is explained very pragmaticaly and in a smart enjoyable way. It’s easy to connect the dots to what we are playing and how I can improvise further based on that knowledge. Jon is very kind and easy going person, I’m so lucky to have him as my teacher. I recommend him to anyone, no matter if you are a complete beginner or an advanced player.
