While I am passionate about my subjects, I understand that not everyone is ecstatic about studying. There's no point teaching simultaneous equations to a struggling student if it isn't on the GCSE Maths Foundation syllabus! Depending on grade that the student is aiming for/predicted I will: ●spend the first lesson with students going through their exam board syllabus, make it explicit what content is the core of the course content and structure lessons in descending importance ● (for higher level students) spend the first lesson with students going through their exam board syllabus, identify the weakest links and structure lessons in ascending order of skill I believe in spaced repetition so revisiting topics taught before is a must! This will manifest in the form of: ●surprise questions during the first 10 minutes of lessons ●helping prepare and working through past papers when it comes closer to exam time to encourage active recall. During normal lessons, there will be a mix of: ●theoretical teaching ●helping the student digest, understand and store useful information that has been presented ●visual aspects (diagrams) In order for students to efficiently absorb knowledge, I will teach one core topic per lesson. Superb experience with Raef. I asked for his help to prepare a math assessment test with an enormous lack of basis but he accepted the challenge. I found out a nice teacher who is not afraid of explaining and repeating if necessary. I did enjoy his method with the whiteboard, it feels like you are in the same place and can interact on the same exercise. Either in English or french he will certainly be able to help you. He is super kind and flexible, I definitively recommend his services.
