Realistic drawing, academic drawing, figurative drawing

Contrary to popular belief, realistic drawing will never be outdated, not because of some strange fixation in academic art, but because of its usefulness in a huge variety of tasks that are or are not related to the art field. To me, more than anything, realistic drawing offers an explanation of the world that is somehow shoothing and fulfilling.

About Me

Hello
I am a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts (Integrated master in Fine Arts and art education). This means I am a qualified art teacher, elligible to work in primary and secondary esucational inatiturions in the E.U.
Moreover, I have experience as a volunteer in non-school teaching environments, such as the Greek Childrens' Art Museum.
On June 2024 I graduated from the master Artistic Research at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Hague.
I consider teaching as a core element in my artistic practice which makes me think proactively and challenges me in a very positive way. I am grateful for all the students, ķids and adults, I had the chance to teach and I am thankful for all the moments of sharing and expressing through art. Because expression is the most important thing we get out of art.
I hope to delve into more teaching adventures soon!

My boys absolutely love their art session with Athina. She is a very dedicated and friendly teacher. She combines technique skills, varied tools and art works examples. Every lesson is very much enjoyed.
Great teacher, takes her time in getting to know the strengths of the child and then teaching accordingly.
Great teacher
Athina is an extremely committed, patient, competent, and understanding art teacher. Athina can fully understand her pupils' interests and inclinations and help them to express their creativity. She strives to take her pupils' skills to the next level without giving them the feeling of being pushed. I can only recommend Athina as an art teacher for your children.
Calm and good with kids!
Painting works as a different kind of language for kids. In an art lesson, a child learns (according to their age and character) how to use this language better, to express themselves more precisely. Many kids are hiding a great artist inside them, but art lessons are not just for gifted kids. And, although there are many great artists who got inspired by children's drawing, the goal is not to train children as an artists, but help them become more aware of the means of expression that are in their disposal , which will later make them more balanced adults, who are aware of the way art narrates the history of our world. This is achieved by familiarizing kids with a variety of techniques and artists. Since the lessons are private, there can be a lot of flexibility with that.

Ask a question

Send a message explaining your needs and Athina will reply soon:
The more detail, the better.
Ex. "Hi, when are you available to meet for a lesson?"

I offer a fun program I developed for kids, where the main focus will be to explore creativity and the senses, learn about the 3 r's (Reuse, Reduce and Recycle) and make projects with things we find in small walks at the neighbourhood and parks, cook vegan food, and small guided meditations. These are just some of the activities we'll be doing, and the classes will be personalized depending on each child's preference. Classes can be given in English, Spanish or Italian.
