+ GCSE and AP Music Teacher
+ +15 years of experience

Hi,
I'm Ignacio, a seasoned music educator and performer with a rich tapestry of experiences in diverse educational and performance roles globally. Alongside designing and teaching music curriculums online and in-person, I've notably contributed to university-level education at USFQ, a member of the Berklee International Network. At USFQ, my key role was overseeing jazz piano education across all undergraduate levels. My teaching repertoire there included Jazz Piano Performance, Jazz Piano Accompaniment, and Jazz Combo, reflecting my deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of jazz musicians.
My performance journey mirrors my educational endeavors. I've led and participated in various contemporary jazz projects, and performed across four continents. Collaborating with Grammy-nominated artists and embarking on solo tours, I've also graced the stage at prestigious music festivals, including the Denton Jazz and Arts Music Festival, the Les Clas du Clasique International Festival, and the International Jazz Festival of Granollers.
In addition, I have also established myself in the field of music production. From my home studio, I engage in recording music for various artists as a freelancer, undertake audio post-production for movies, and compose music published under different names across all streaming platforms. This aspect of my career highlights my adaptability and skill in the evolving landscape of music technology and production.
My career has also seen me work as an IBDP Music Examiner and secondary music teacher, experienced in curriculums like IBDP, GCSE, and the UK National Curriculum. I've led music departments, creating comprehensive courses and coordinating musical events and performances.
With academic credentials including a Master's in Jazz Studies and a Bachelor's in Music, alongside a Bachelor's in Physics, I'm also a qualified IBDP Music educator and hold Teacher Status in the UK. My role as a private piano and composition instructor and my involvement in workshops and seminars on music education and technology further demonstrate my dedication to the world of music education, production, and performance.

I had a very strong suspicion that online music class would work for me, and Ignacio totally changed my opinion. He was precise, courteous, and encouraging. His teaching method is very systematic. My days of searching over youtube and self-feed random materials is over. I wish I had started the lesson much earlier. I am very much looking forward to continue the class! Thank you Ignacio!

Royal College of Music Graduate - Piano Performance - Music Theorywww.stella-sin.com
A former scholar at the Royal College of Music London, sponsored by The Kenneth and Violet Scott Award, I earned a degree in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Nigel Clayton, Peter Jablonski and Ruth Nye. I was also a recipient of Talent Development Scholarship awarded by the Hong Kong Government Scholarship Scheme.
Started learning the piano at the age of 4, I won numerous prizes in different competitions including Asia Piano Open Competition, TOYAMA Asian Youth Music Competition, Inter-School International Performance Challenge and Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals. In 2018, I was also one of the finalists in the Liszt Memorial Prizes Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition.
I have been actively engaged in music teaching since 2013. Starting my career in Opus 1 Arts Music Studio in Hong Kong, I continued inspiring the next generation when I moved to London in 2015, where I was appointed as the piano teacher in the Lanterns School of the Performing Arts London and London Music Centre.

Music Composition - GCSE and A-Level Students - Beginners to AdvancedThis class is designed for GCSE and A-Level music students eager to develop their composition skills in line with exam requirements. With a focus on originality and creativity, we will explore compositional techniques, musical structures, and stylistic understanding across a variety of genres. Each session will offer practical exercises and guided tasks tailored to exam criteria, encouraging students to build confidence and express their unique musical voice.
Through regular feedback, constructive discussions, and assignment of relevant exercises between lessons, students will gain a deeper understanding of music theory, harmony, and instrumentation to enhance their compositions. My goal is to challenge students to think independently and to prepare them thoroughly for the composition components of their music exams, all within a supportive and engaging online environment.

Let's talk about music! Musical language, harmony, composition, various analyses, music in its sociocultural context or commented readings(Important! The schedules are now closing with the students I already have, so it is difficult to specify a definitive schedule for September)
Hello! I have been teaching uninterruptedly for more than 10 years and I would like to explain to you what you can find in a class with me:
- To begin, the most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I would like to focus the classes according to what you need or want, from learning for pure pleasure from scratch to preparing for entrance tests or focusing professionally. The needs of each student may vary the methodology, the way of organizing the study sessions, etc.
- Once we know what we want to achieve and by when, classes will begin in a relaxed atmosphere. Important! Relaxed does not equal lax! only that we will try to resort to dynamic and as practical methods as possible, especially given my character and sense of humor ;).
- Something important to highlight is that I always place special emphasis on the development of hearing, musicality and the analysis of your references. Above all so that you can then make your own aesthetic decisions and feel like owner of your music.
- Last but not least, my tendency will be to give equal importance to different music. We will adapt to your tastes and needs, but here there is no room to say which music is better or worse. Each one will help us work on different aspects of the music and, if we don't know something, we will analyze it side by side until we unravel all its mysteries. The only thing I will do is work on themes and styles that can help us in each section of musical development (melody, harmony, rhythm, orchestration, production, lyrics, semiotics, etc.)
If you like what you've read, don't hesitate to contact me. Learning music is a pleasure and I would love to share it with you!
IMPORTANT!!! Due to the volume of concerts and other assignments I have, I will need to agree on a little flexibility. You will always be my priority and there will only be changes if I really can't find an alternative. I appreciate the understanding.

Learn the bass differently and intuitivelyThis course is above all there to make you want to play bass, let it be fun! It will be based on the practice of the instrument, on the understanding and the role of the bass. The theory will be based on the progress of the practice. Step by step, practice and theory will thus be complementary, and will necessarily be useful!
Have you always dreamed of being able to play bass? it's time to get started!
Let the magic of music take hold of you and become the accomplished bassist you always wanted to be!
Possibility of offering this course to one of your loved ones, a very appreciated gift for people who would like to embark on a musical adventure!

Vocal Technique “Vocal Sensations” (English & Spanish)I teach vocal technique through body awareness. We’ll dive into the essential principles of singing: breath, resonance, and articulation. We’ll start with some breathing exercises to get warmed up, followed by vocal exercises to work on technique, and then you’ll get to sing a song of your choice.
We’ll also bust some common myths about singing, and you’ll be amazed at how much you can learn in such a short time!
It’s going to be a lot of fun!
