I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student. My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

If you are a music student seeking extra help in music theory or music composition, I am experienced in both areas. I have provided lessons to students in the ABRSM theory exams as well as Trinity in any level. I am also able to assist secondary school students with composition and some music technology requirements, as well as university students needing help with composition modules.

I am a classical pianist, holding two Master's degrees from the Royal Academy of Music - Postgraduate Certificate in Performance (UK, London, 2015), and Guildhall School of Music and Drama - Master of Performance, advanced instrumental studies: Piano (UK, London, 2019). During studies, I took part in masterclasses with world-renowned teachers and pianists, including Ian Fountain, Colin Stone, and Simon Trpceski. I did solo recitals in Russia, Switzerland, and the UK. I also won the internal piano competition Romantic Piano Prize, which was held at Guildhall School of Music.

At my studio my students will not only learn how to play the piano, but they will receive a complete musical education in order to achieve their musical dreams. I will give all my best so everybody will get the tools for developing their own voice, helping them to master the instrument and teaching them all the theoretical knowledge they’ll need to make their particular personality shine. In my class you will not only be able to receive piano lessons but also will learn to understand how the music works as a language. If the interest and the profile of the student goes in the direction of the purely classical music performance, the lessons will be focused on a deep and conscious piano technique development, practicing techniques, musical interpretation, history of music, history of the piano, applied harmony on the keyboard, analysis, and score reading by a method that I have developed for over 15 years of experience. And if the students wish, I can help them to prepare for the ABRSM exams and competitions as well. All this is aiming to achieve in a very practical and exciting experience the best results in the fastest way possible. But if the profile and the interests of the students goes on another way, I will give them all the tools they need to understand the language of music in depth, so they can find their own voice on the instrument. In that case the lessons will include contents of piano technique, score reading, applied harmony on the keyboard, composition, improvisation, musical arrangement, music production, recording techniques, jazz and pop music analysis and performance. Both programs can be combined depending on the focus and the profile of the student, or in case the student would like to go deeper in one of the previously mentioned subjects there is the opportunity to take an independent course of specialization on the desired topic. At the end of the semester every student will perform at the winter and summer concerts held every year and will have the possibility of making a recording session with the material worked during the term. With this, the student will not only be able to see his progress and work, but also will give him a direct experience of performing and working on a live or studio recording session, which is a fundamental part of the developing process of every musician. I conduct a first lesson, where we can get to know each other and determine how compatible we are. Work experience I have been working with children and adults of any level for over 10 years. My approach The basis is the construction of a holistic musical personality, an individual approach. I help students express themselves and captivate listeners. This includes, in addition to all types of technique, ear training and music theory, also more general psychological skills and abilities related to your personality, such as, for example, artistry and musicality. In this sense, the student and teacher's understanding of themselves and music plays a major role; serious attention is paid to psychological processes in the lesson, since they are the most important part of the student's progress. Elements of psychoanalysis are included in the work (I have more than 7 years of experience in personal analysis). Unfortunately, teachers almost always do not know how to work in this area, which significantly worsens the quality of classes. In lessons, I start from your goals, desires and level, you can choose your repertoire and pace of learning together with me. Lessons are adapted to the age, level and tasks of the student - an individual approach. With students who study professionally, they are distinguished by greater intensity, the presence of exam lessons. With children, a minimum of theoretical discussions and a maximum of play. In my understanding, technique is a good sound and effect on the listener, so in lessons I almost always start from the process of expressing myself through music, from direct playing on the instrument. This means that I do not engage in meaningless memorization of techniques, but their mastery occurs through the creation of music, which makes the process enjoyable and interesting. Education and achievements I started my education at the Stasov Music School in Moscow (piano), and then continued at the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music and Pedagogical College (piano). I received a bachelor's degree from the Jerusalem Academy of Music (piano). I am a diploma winner of the Moscow Piano Competition of Romantic Music (2018), and also a multiple participant in various concerts with solo and ensemble programs. I have more than 7 years of experience in personal psychoanalytic work, which allows me to delve into the details of each student. Work online I have several professional webcams for viewing hands and posture from different sides (including from above), as well as several microphones so that you can hear and see both your voice and playing with high quality. For lessons, you will need a device with Internet access, a camera and a microphone. Work is usually in Zoom or Jitsi.
