As a full time Data Lead and Exams Officer at Conisborough College, I have a unique view of performance metrics, and the latest knowledge on GCSE exams. With a specialism in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, my style of teaching is an expression of my experiences as a student and a tutor. My past tutoring experiences ranges from teaching secondary school classrooms and a lot of work with 1-on-1's. While I have had State Schooling my successful early experiences with exams (SATS, GCSEs) set me up with a solid foundation and ideal to approach exams by myself and eventually find my area of expertise in everything Maths and Physics. When it comes to exam preparation, my strategy is always textbook oriented. My principle in education has always been to know what I don't know and then deal with my not-knowing of that chapter/area. I like to use what is known/understood as a warm up and get creative with it, probing the student's baselines and tactics. The warm up also gives you the winning-feeling about the subject and this is a feeling that grows and brings clarity such that it guided me year in, year out to go and understand every chapter to answer every topical exam question, and it can for you too. Cet échauffement vous procure également un sentiment de réussite, qui se renforce au fil du temps et apporte une clarté essentielle. C’est cette approche qui m’a permis, année après année, d’assimiler chaque chapitre et de pouvoir répondre à chaque question d’examen. Elle peut faire la même chose pour vous. My lessons are primarily for adults. You can be needing a coach for an audition or a full production, maybe you want to find that spark again by trying a different method, or you might want to try acting out, great! I can adjust to whatever you need. My lessons are at least an hour or more. I have a vocal/light physical warm-up that I like to do at the beginning of subsequent lessons. I remember one of my first teachers saying "An actor should be a blank canvas." And this made sense at first. So I went up on our small stage to do a monologue and it was terrible. My teacher said, "Kamil, you didn't really do anything." "Well, yeah? I am a blank canvas" As a neurodiverse person, I am overanalytical, literal, incredibly anxious and have difficulty speaking with full confidence. However, my Master's level education from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School has given me a toolkit where I can work towards placing my self-doubt and uncertainty behind 'The Work.' The Work is the hours you've spent in the text, the pencil markings in the script, the crinkled pages from taking it in and out of your backpack. It's the objective truth that you can rely on when your self-awareness doesn't want you to be the character, when you can feel an audience member looking at you, when the person behind the camera laughs at something you didn't inherently think was funny. It's your character's lifesaver. For those that may require more structure when they receive text, I can help you deconstruct that overwhelming building into its key components. Whether it's from a play you've been newly cast in, a voiceover script you can't wrap your head around, or just a simple self-tape, we can work to break down text that lets BE that blank canvas on the day, but you know what paints you've used, what strokes you can utilise, you know the feel of the paintbrush from all the canvases you've practised on. Also, it's a good way to memorise lines. And that's just a nice bonus.

Trusted teacher: Yoga is a powerful instrument that can help us to understand and grow confidence in our bodies and mind. It is fundamental in mental and physical wellbeing, and even just one session a week can make a difference to your life. In this class, you will learn a range of asanas in depth, including their purpose and effects in your body. There will also be an abundance of yogic philosophy and techniques for meditation and pranayama (Breath-work). Each student will delve into their being and explore any blockages or stressed energy, and gradually smooth them out. Yoga is an ideal way to stay fit and healthy, and remove pressures from day to day life. For this Class, I want to create an intimate and comfortable atmosphere for the student; all ages and levels of experience welcome. There will be a sequence of asanas, short teachings of yoga philosophy, and open discussions between teacher and student. Aside from the class, I am always an open ear for anyone in need, and will provide the best support I can. The classes can be tailored to the student's needs and ability. Just have a chat with me about what you want to learn - any specific poses or philosophies, or just general ideas. I am able to provide sessions more similar to a workout for physical fitness and training, or a more relaxed class with in depth postures and open conversations.

I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have a special passion for creative writing, which I specifically studied in my joint honours degree (BA English with Creative Writing), and specialise in producing stories, written poetry, and spoken word poetry which I have previously performed at events. I have run creative writing workshops for children at previous educational centres and love to make writing enjoyable, engaging and exciting for all of my students at all levels. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride am an attentive listener and I carefully plan my lessons according to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN, ESOL, and younger pupils. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they want to excel at, and helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. I worked with Kristin: I engaged her as an accompanist rather than a teacher. She accompanied me in my one-man play at the Edinburgh Fringe: Coleridge-Taylor of Freetown. Kristin was very keen and got totally immersed in the story and the play, and was complimented by many in the audience, both for her lovely playing and for her spirit. She even went flyering with me, which shows that she treated the engagement as much more than "just a job," which others could have. I am glad to have found her through Apprentus.
