- Description of the French lesson: During this type of tutoring we work purposefully: you choose one theme in advance that you want help with. It can be a grammatical element, a specific skill that you want to practice, learn to summarize, logical reasoning, etc. You bring all your material that you already have (school / self-study) and you come to class prepared and with concrete questions . Each tutoring session requires at least half an hour of homework if multiple sessions are used. - Not sure where your gaps are? Then you can choose to follow the first two tutoring hours as "intake - French". We will then look together at what your skills are and how extensive your knowledge is in terms of grammar and vocabulary. Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What are the sessions about? The sessions are to work on conversation in English through topics and content of psychology, well-being and self-help. The content is about positive psychology topics, where tools for life are acquired, through information and reflection exercises. Why use positive psychology content? According to several studies, including a study conducted by Cambridge in 2022, the best method to learn a language is through immersion (exposure and engagement). This means that when we learn topics or activities that interest us, the brain activates the prefrontal cortex, the striatum, the limbic system, and the hippocampus, which are the areas of long-term memory, motivation, concentration, reward, and emotional experience. These functions together create greater receptivity to new information. It is about talking about topics that motivate and interest us to enhance learning. They are also life tools that benefit us all. The more a person opens up to talking and reflecting on their personal experiences, whether positive or negative, the more they will be able to handle life's difficulties and improve their well-being. What level should I be at? Once you understand the written and/or spoken language, and can say the basics, we can start working. It doesn't matter if your level is basic, since that's exactly what the sessions are for. When you try to create a statement with interesting content, the areas of the brain that promote learning are activated. Here, through the chat, pronunciation and grammar are corrected, new vocabulary is added, and the correct way to say what is desired is taught. Issues that require further exploration and/or external help will be referred to a therapy or a professional as appropriate. By what means can I take the session and how many frequencies do I need? Most sessions are via Zoom. The teacher will send you the link via WhatsApp or email and at the time of your session you can access it via a device. It is recommended once a week if the session is individual. You will notice that they are very complete and you may be a little tired after the session, if you are not very familiar with the language. If the session is in a group of two or more people, it can be once or twice a week. We will talk about many interpersonal topics in the session and we may follow up during the week by sharing relevant content via WhatsApp and voice notes, also in English for both parties to continue practicing fluency and vocabulary. It can be in person in Monterrey, Nuevo León in groups of 3 or more, or within the Republic for workshops.
