There's no point teaching simultaneous equations to a struggling student if it isn't on the GCSE Maths Foundation syllabus! Depending on grade that the student is aiming for/predicted I will: ●spend the first lesson with students going through their exam board syllabus, make it explicit what content is the core of the course content and structure lessons in descending importance ● (for higher level students) spend the first lesson with students going through their exam board syllabus, identify the weakest links and structure lessons in ascending order of skill I believe in spaced repetition so revisiting topics taught before is a must! This will manifest in the form of: ●surprise questions during the first 10 minutes of lessons ●helping prepare and working through past papers when it comes closer to exam time to encourage active recall. During normal lessons, there will be a mix of: ●theoretical teaching ●helping the student digest, understand and store useful information that has been presented ●visual aspects (diagrams) In order for students to efficiently absorb knowledge, I will teach one core topic per lesson. We will continue to improve our speaking, listening and grammar levels by learning new informations step by step. Based on my 13 years of experience, I think that A1 level is a very important period in language learning. When learning any language, beginner level students should learn it in the correct order and important details should be explained well by practising previous ones. Students at more advanced levels, such as A2, B1 or above, also need to practice their skills at the previous level thoroughly to improve their language skills. I try to provide good teaching by paying attention to these important points in my lessons. I keep our lessons' notes in a word file. After our lessons, I send you back all the additional notes and exercises that we covered in our lesson as a Word file.
