I am an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the renowned Rockacademie in Tilburg, Netherlands, and I have a music studio in the heart of Amsterdam. Working under the name Malvae, I write, sing, produce, mix, master, and perform my own music, enabling me to provide the entire process under one roof. My journey has led me to the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA on nr.17, features in films like the upcoming documentary 'King of the Streets', directed by an award-winning filmmaker, and even a Netflix series. With over 7 million streams to date, I am now excited to share my knowledge and experience with a few dedicated students. Earlier this year, I had the honour of headlining my own show at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, showcasing a self-built live set accompanied by immersive visuals. I also had the pleasure of teaching at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum. In addition to my artistry, I work as an audio engineer for radio, podcast series, create custom music for film, and offer mixing and mastering services for various clients. I also have experience working on promotion plans and collaborating with PR agencies, which has helped me successfully build my own fanbase of over 10,000 Spotify followers through targeted advertising on Meta. While I primarily work in Ableton Live, my knowledge is applicable to any program you use. For online lessons, I use a program that allows me to listen to your music or projects in HD quality through a plugin you load onto your master channel, ensuring we can collaborate effectively in real time. Logic Pro is a powerful but complex software tool that can be used to create everything from very basic recordings and compositions, to huge professional productions. You'll learn all the skills you need to set up and use Logic Pro; how to record and edit audio, use software instruments and plug-in effects, and how to mix and process your sounds. Lessons can either be conducted online, or at my studio, if you're local to Plymouth (it's not in a restaurant, I don't know why it says that!) I've been using Logic Pro for almost 25 years and have taught it at University level.

I’m a Music Producer with experience in sound design and composition for moving image. I have been using Ableton as my main daw for 12 years for electronic music production, ranging from pop and experimental music to studio recording sessions. 
In the last few years, I’ve been focusing on assisting producers and songwriters with developing and improving their live electronic performance workflow. I can also provide consultancy on this topic, whether you’re interested in performing or rearranging your material. This course is recommended for anyone who wants to discover the basics of Ableton Live or learn new music production techniques to extend their practice. The course is flexible and can be tailored to everybody’s needs. Logic Pro is one of the industry-standards when it comes to Audio Engineering, Mixing, and Mastering. In this class you will be able to explore logic, through the use go stock plug-ins, recording mixing and mastering techniques. This will further enable a better understanding of how to use this DAW to a degree that can be implemented in the industry.

I studied music production at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the mentorship of King James Britt, and at Abbey Road in London. I am well versed in most audio software (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro X), using all of these in a professional setting for over 5 years. Currently, I work as an audio engineer, mixing and mastering songs for clients as well as recording in major studios across the city, as well as working remotely for the studio that I started in Oxford (Lenka's Studios). I would love to help you reach your specific goals in Audio production and pass on my knowledge. Students can bring their works in Progress for feedback and to be worked on, or they can ask in advance to learn more about a specific area of audio production (For example, recording techniques for drums or piano, mixing techniques for live recordings or for electronic music). I have many years of experience in writing songs electronically, and for live instruments, for artists in the UK and the USA. If you want to learn more about songwriting, this is another area I would be happy to help with.

In these private lessons I will cover a broad range of topics that you'd like to learn about using Ableton Live! With over a decade in teaching experience across a broad range of topics, I'm prepared to customize lessons to make sure you get the most out of your time. To do this, we'll spend about 5-10 minutes just going through your own music background and experience (don't worry, this won't count towards lesson time) so I can get a sense of how best to progress your skills. Topics may include: beat-making, melody/harmony writing, arrangement, workflow tips, sound design, mixing and mastering, recording, live performance, sampling, and pretty much anything else you can think of to get your sounds off the ground.
