Creative Writing Support - Beginner to Advanced Level.
Creative writing is often portrayed as a solitary task. This cannot be further from the truth! Even professional authors have their work proofread, edited, and through this process redrafted. I offer these services to writers of every level. As a writer myself, I specialise in prose and plays, and am happy to look at work from a spectrum of literature. Specifically, I look to help support you with your work by proofreading, checking for grammar and spelling, but also suggesting literary techniques that may improve your work. Furthermore, I can provide a range of exercises for new writers to explore their tone and style, and am happy to help people to whom English is a second or third language gain confidence in their writing!

About Me
I am a recent graduate of the University of Edinburgh, and while studying I found a love for collaborative work and helping others! Throughout my degree, I tutored high school students privately and found joy in reading and giving feedback to my academic colleagues. I specialise in exam prep for high school students, but also have experience in giving feedback for creative folio pieces, something I have learnt independently and been taught via creative writing classes. Outside of tutoring I write, and have been recently published in Pushing Out the Boat Magazine!Education
University of Edinburgh, 2018-2023MA English Literature, First class Honours
University of Copenhagen, Exchange 2021-2022
Studied MA Creative Writing and Creative Non-fiction, Achieved A - grade equivalent
Experience / Qualifications
Tutored privately for three years. Students have typically found a two-grade increase from prelim grade. (eg. C in prelim to A in exam). While I specialise in English and creative writing, I have also tutored Drama, which I studied in school and practice as an extracurricular, and psychology. If you are interested in these, please send me a message enquiring!English Literature, while being a fun and engaging subject, can be equally daunting - especially when getting your ideas down on the page! This class is designed for Scottish High school students, ranging from National 5 to Advanced Higher level, and offers support with how to approach textual analysis, essay writing skills, proofreading, and exam techniques so that your ideas can be conveyed in the best way possible.
I have a first-class MA undergraduate in English literature from the University of Edinburgh, so am up to date with contemporary literary theory and debates. Furthermore, I sat the Scottish National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher English exams myself, and achieved A's, as recently as 2018 so I have an understanding of what the courses entail.
I have tutored privately for three years, and am available in person and over Zoom. My approach to teaching English is a collaborative one, allowing for an open discussion of your aims and needs. I can tailor to what each person struggles with in class while providing the information and structure needed to excel in examinations. Furthermore, I will proofread the folio work required for the exam. I find that with this approach, students gain the confidence and skill set needed to tackle their examinations and thrive.

It is a matter of combining improvements in form with improvements in substance. For this, the sessions can for example take place according to your needs as follows:
a) Comments / proposals on the text that you will offer me b) Writing exercises based on a statement.

Whether it is a novel, an essay, song lyrics, various texts, a biography or simply a report for professional or school purposes, it is about offering you elements personalized pedagogy:
- Study your text
- Build text, song lyrics etc

All this by combining theory and practice: Writing work from exercises then as part of a personal project.
During the sessions, you are guided in your writing project. The trainer accompanies you and teaches you the preparation method, gives you writing tools and helps you work on your style and your imagination.
The objective is multiple, including a reflection on one's own literary path, an introduction to the basic tools of style work and exercises on description.

- Learn and master the practical writing tools.
- Broaden its reflection on creation and professional and personal writing.

Trained in a European Grande Ecole & Ivy League University in the United States, specialized and has been working in Europe and North America for more than 16 years in this field, in reputable international institutions , also intervening in forums and conferences.
- Locations: Geneva - Lausanne - Friborg - Neuchâtel - Montreux - Basel - Sion - Sierre - Morges - Bienne. But currently and until further notice, only by videoconference in accordance with national recommendations on Covid.
These sessions, for which you have asked me, also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). Indeed, they have the advantage of face-to-face sessions (ex: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time) with additional advantages (ex: the entire session transcribed in writing on the chat). That is why, at your request, I continue to offer this option.
À la carte: evaluated and adapted to each personality.

I can tutor within the areas of literature, poetry and creative writing, and I'm keen to guide and assist anyone of any age or level. I use the word "assist" because I aim to establish a reciprocal dynamic in which we can bounce and play off one another. I know from experience the elevation of finding those hidden keys lodged somewhere in the mind, keys that open doors to knew areas of insight and growth in the often daunting act of writing. I'll cater the lesson to you and strive to push you to find them, to harness your sensibility and manifest it onto the page, and to bring light to your words.

Trécy
French classes, French literature, DELF/DALF/BACHIBAC preparation and competitive examinationsGood morning! My name is Trécy, I'm French, and I've been living in Madrid for 8 years. I've been a French teacher for 7 years and hold a degree in Spanish Philology from the Sorbonne (Paris) and a Master's in FLE (teaching French as a foreign language).
My method is communicative, meaning I primarily encourage oral communication in my classes, analyzing documents, videos, and audio, but always with the goal of reviewing and studying grammatical structures, conjugation, and, above all, the vocabulary necessary for you to be able to converse in French-speaking environments.
In addition, in class I practice with the students both the oral and written comprehension sections as well as the oral and written production, grammar points, conjugation, conversation... because don't forget that spoken and written French are like two different languages and it is necessary that you know how to speak and write them.
I also offer varied and engaging content to my students so they can learn while having fun with videos, audio clips, role-playing games, real-life situations, debates, and more.
The goal is for you to learn inductively. That is, you will analyze the grammatical structures and verb tenses that appear in the documents studied to derive the rules for these structures. We will study them together and explain them with the goal of later applying them through exercises, activities, dialogues, etc.
In short, you are the driving force and the driving force behind this class! But the most important thing is that you learn and practice while having fun.
In more technical terms, I prepare my students for the French DELF / DALF / EOI tests at levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 and also for the official French BACHIBAC tests for literature and competitive examinations.
You will see in class that I am a teacher committed to my students, serious, dynamic, smiling, motivated, and very attentive to the questions, needs, and doubts of my students.
If you have any questions, please feel free to write to me! :)

French private lessons by university graduate in LettersHolder of a Master's degree in Letters and endowed with a solid experience in private lessons, I provide French lessons for students wishing to:
- consolidate their bases in grammar, spelling
- improve their language skills (allophone students)
- improve their speaking skills (conversation classes)
-profect the written expression
- prepare for ECR exams
- prepare for the written examinations at the end of the studies (maturity, certificate of completion)
- help with the writing of works of maturity (or other works of end of studies), of dissertation
- work on argumentative texts
- acquire a method to analyze literary texts
- learn how to perform bibliographic research
The course material is a Google Docs document that I create in which my explanations, possible links, exercises appear. By reading it regularly, progress will be faster. It can also be used in addition to other documents (files printed by school teachers and/or books) and has many advantages: automatic updating, downloadable on tablets and smartphones, simultaneous monitoring of what is writing.
For help with writing:
The objective is above all to acquire effective tools. The student will thus be able to learn to structure his ideas, argue coherently (and convincingly) and enrich his vocabulary. It is essential for me to have written work from the student between each lesson.
For analyzes of oral literary texts:
In order to optimize the time available (and to put ourselves in conditions closest to oral exams), we choose together an extract from a work that the student will have previously prepared before the lesson. This would take around 20 minutes at most, and ideally just a little before the meeting time. If necessary, I have the habit of taking a paragraph at random which would serve as a basis for analyzing a passage.
For the corrections of end of studies work:
so that the meeting with the student is at the most profitable, I ask him to send me his writings before the meeting.
Apart from my presence with the student, any course involves a preparation time before and after the lesson, including the work that I correct. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the time to write detailed comments on corrected work or tips to ensure maximum success for everyone.
For example, an editorial correction can easily be the subject of a detailed commentary of 4 typewritten pages.
For adults (FLE):
In order to optimally prepare the first ones, I take the initiative to inform myself in advance of their objectives / expectations. Whether to practice speaking in everyday life, the professional world or to practice oral presentations, I prepare either PPT or technical sheets in advance that I send by mail ( after booking on the website).
The other alternative is to make a PV of the course that I send (or that I print). Giving importance to keeping a written record on the one hand to better memorize the topics covered, on the other hand to better assimilate the spelling.
Of a general nature, a concrete situation that responds to the learner's needs is the starting point. From this situation, I address the essential grammatical points.
