Hi, I'm Polly! I graduated with a first-class BA in Geography from the University of Oxford and I am about to start my MA at SOAS University of London. My experience includes teaching English in China for a year, over four years tutoring Geography from KS3 to undergraduate level, and teaching A-level Geography at an international school. Climate change is a subject were often hear about but have varying degrees of understanding how and why it happens, and what can be done about it. This course will provide you with the fundamentals of climate change, and the challenges it presents in the world of politics, political economy, science, energy, human development and social justice. The course will enable you to know where to find the problem and where to look for solutions.

I will tutoring from Primary school level up to A-Level as well as functional maths, english and french. Lessons will aimed at providing bespoke experiences to students based on your level of understanding. The general idea behind the lessons is to simplify complex concepts for your sake. In my opinion, Geography is one of the most important subjects to study as it gives a global perspective on current, real life matters. It also drastically improves one’s ability for impressive dinner party conversation ;) I can break down and explain all topics of school geography in a simple, accessible way. I understand that some complex concepts can be hard to grasp in a classroom, thus I can identity where students may be falling down with their understanding and tackle those areas first. Both Human and Physical Geography require a specific style of essay writing that took me a while to master, but going through that process has helped me to teach exam techniques in a straightforward way. I can create custom presentations for students and walk them through content they may be struggling with, or go over school work that needs elaborating. My teaching style values the personal engagement of the student so that they may form independent opinions and ideas that will make them excel. The course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its applications. It consists from 5 to 10 modules (or classes) that cover various aspects of GIS, including introduction to GIS, geographic data representation and uncertainty, georeferencing and spatial coordinate systems, GIS software and data modeling, GIS data collection and processing, spatial analysis and querying techniques, cartography and geovisualization, advanced spatial data processing and automation with R and Python, and future trends and innovations in GIS. Each module is structured with sections for review and objectives, lecture, interactive discussion, hands-on exercise, and Q&A. The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize GIS in problem-solving and decision-making across different fields.
