I have a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and am currently pursuing a Masters degree at Fontys School of the Arts in Tilburg. I have played with several professional Orchestras in New Zealand (New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra and the Auckland Chamber Orchestra). I strongly believe that learning a musical instrument enhances people’s lives and helps to develop skills which are invaluable to all students – no matter what kind of future they pursue! I have 10+ years of experience teaching flute, and have enjoyed teaching a range of students from beginner to advanced. This is supported by my strong research interest in flute pedagogy and methodology at a postgraduate level. As a teacher I aim to: - Develop well-rounded, confident students who flourish - Develop skills essential as both a flautist and musician: instrumental technique, physical skills (breathing, body alignment), musicality, performance skills and musicianship skills (aural, theory etc.) - Plan creative, engaging lessons with an enjoyable and vibrant atmosphere - Teach in a style that is supportive, encouraging and friendly - Nurture a passion for music - Use acute problem-solving skills to ensure students playing issues are quickly pinpointed and solved - Provide performance opportunities and prepare students for exams if desired

I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

I offer lessons to all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to those more advanced. Typical lessons last from 30 minutes to an hour. All of my lessons are tailored to meet the exact needs and preferences of my students, whether that's working towards their next graded exam, playing just for fun, and anything in between. I hold a first class honours degree in Classical Flute from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I studied with Ian Clarke and Philippa Davies, and won the Needlemaker's Woodwind Prize. After graduating in 2022, I was invited to become a Guildhall School Junior Fellow, specialising in Flute and Composition. As a freelance flautist, I have had the privilege of performing at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Concert Hall and the Southbank Centre. My performance experience encompasses a diverse range of settings, from live radio broadcasts to collaborations with dance and art installations, reflecting my versatility as a musician, and openness to help my students pursue their own personal journey, both within music and as an individual in general. In addition to my passion for the flute, I am also an accomplished composer with a portfolio of commissioned works premiering at renowned venues and exhibitions worldwide. Notable highlights include composing for Wessel Flutes, Berlin Fashion Week, Nxt Museum (Amsterdam), and Adidas Y-3. My work as a composer heavily influences my approach to teaching. Beyond emphasising technical proficiency and a solid grasp of music theory, I am dedicated to nurturing creativity in all of my students.

In this lessons we will work on Irish tunes alongside how to play your whistle, good posture and breathing technique. Irish music gives a great joy, it's rhythmical and flowing :) we will work on both playing by ear, but also reading the sheet music so you can always easily learn and play new tunes.

I am a professional flutist with over 5 years of experience in teaching. I have worked with people aged 5 to 75 and taught in five different languages: English, German, Ukrainian, Polish, and French. I hold a pedagogical qualification from the Academy of Music in Krakow, where I obtained a Master's degree with distinction in flute performance. Recently, I graduated from the Conservatoire Royal de Liège, where I earned a specialized Master's degree in flute. With my help, my students have become first prize winners in competitions like the renowned "Jugend musiziert" in Germany. They have also prepared for playing in youth orchestras such as Das Bayerische Landesjugendorchester or worked on repertoire for different kinds of concerts. As a teacher, I am very flexible and always strive to adapt to the needs of my students. I am passionate about the flute and music in general, and I greatly enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.
