Italian to Turkish / Turkish to Italian lessons based personal needs

Ciao! I have been teaching Italian for the past twelve years. I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules. I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...” When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.

I am a professional English teacher with over 8 years experience in various teaching roles. I have experience of teaching all ages from 3 up to 65+ in group classes or 1-on-1. Specific purpose teaching such as public speaking or business English also taught. I will always make the class exciting, fun and full of laughter. I am a Turkish teacher. I graduated in Turkey with a BA in Languages. The classes I offer are from basic to academic level, so for children, students, expats and adults. That focus is on learning grammar, speaking,, reading and writing. If you want to learn Turkish for vacation, work, family or just as a hobby, I can certainly help you. I use Turkish grammar books, podcast, websites for learning Turkish and other study materials. and the rate is lower from 5 lessons. Normally a student with a motivation to learn the language learns basic Turkish in 10 or 15 lessons. Both private and group lessons (The Hague) are available.

This class will have an informal approach to learning the language, adapted to each students' needs and preferences. A diversity of materials will be provided, as well as online resources, all depending on the age of the student. As a German speaker with a C1 level, I am aware of the cultural implications of the language, even though I am not an expert in it, of course. I aim to make every class a fruitful and efficient learning process for the student, but also for me.

Turkish is a rich and powerful language to speak. Altough it seems hard to learn, having classes from a person whose mother thounge is Turkish, is not that difficult as it sounds. But the important part is to have fun while learning Turkish becaue learning a language is not only understanding Turkish people but also having the ability to comrehend with their culture. Please bear in mind that I only teach this course in English as I don't speak Dutch.
