I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have taught students both in person and remotely, planning lessons using virtual presentations, activities and resources both in the UK and abroad. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride myself on being an attentive listener and carefully adapt to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN and ESOL pupils. I have previously volunteered as a mentor with charities such as Al Muntaha Tutoring and Debate Mate, providing mentorship, relevant advice, and support to young people. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they are specifically struggling with, or helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. I specialise and have years of experience, skills and training in SEN as well as many other subjects. Therefore, I'm qualified in supporting and providing primary age children who have learning difficulties and need full support in any subject from Key Stages 1-2. Updates on your child's progress and homework will also be provided regularly. This includes full support given to mainstream children who do not have learning difficulties but need some tuition in English, Maths or Science etc. Exam support for those preparing for their SATS in Key Stages 1 - 2 will also be given. All children will be provided with homework on a weekly basis. I like to give parents of young children regular updates on how their child is progressing. For older children or adults, I can provide support with coursework, essay writing and exam support, just ask! My teenage daughter had tuition from myself whilst studying for her GCSE's this year. She managed to pass all of her subjects, and got a distinction in English, amongst other subjects! I like to build a good professional rapport with all my students and to allow them to really think critically whilst learning. My goal is to make learning fun and enjoyable, but that it should also challenge young minds, in order for them to thrive and grow. As educating children is very important to me as a tutor.
