Hello, my name is Ricardo and I'm a Portuguese professional opera singer and singing teacher based in London. I trained at the University of Aveiro (2010; BMus & MEdu Vocal Performance and Tuition w/ Distinction) and at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (2011; MMus in Performance w/ Merit). I'm a certified singing teacher and would love to help you! I teach singing to any age range and in a variety of styles: Classical, Contemporary/Musical Theatre. I teach either at my home in Wimbledon or at the student's home. I'm happy to travel within the London metropolitan area but will adjust the price of the lessons according to the travel costs I incur. My schedule is very flexible and the lessons are to be arranged with the student on a weekly basis. My singing students will be prepared to undertake any endeavour they want to in the music world: I can prepare them to sing for fun for family gatherings, Conservatoire access, ABRSM exams or to sing professionally. I've also had great success with Skype/Facetime singing lessons. These are charged at the same price as live lessons and the date and time are to be arranged between me and the student. My Message to you: My singing teaching is based in objective physical information which you can replicate, memorise and follow. My main goal is to help you build a healthy muscle memory for singing which you can then put to the service of Art. Avec 7 ans d’expérience derrière moi et une quarantaine d’élèves ,je pense que meilleure méthode de cours se base sur une approche transversale, liant dès le début l’apprentissage corporel de l’instrument à l'intention musicale de l'élève. Comment exprimer telle ou telle émotion sur le piano avec notre corps ? Que l’on apprenne le piano simplement pour le plaisir ou vers une professionnalisation, cette approche s’adapte au désirs de tous. Adultes et enfants de tout âge sont les bienvenus, le premier cours étant toujours offert, chez moi sur un piano à Queue. En dehors du Piano Classique et du solfège, on peut aussi aborder le Piano Jazz, l’improvisation, la composition et les traditions musicales Indiennes et Indonésiennes. Avec les enfants, cela prend la forme d'une didactique adaptée à l'âge, ludique, avec laquelle je cerne un ou deux objectifs spécifiques à accomplir qui permettent de communiquer des notions complexes d’une manière simple. Apprendre par l’expérience du corps permet d’aborder toutes ces choses d’une manière dirigée et facilement accessible La compréhension du rapport entre son et corps, c’est surtout comprendre que par l’apprentissage on unifie des éléments séparés. With 27 years of experience as a violin teacher, artist and composer, I transmit my love of music in a creative, playful and holistic way. I have developed a method that adapts to each student according to their needs, levels and desires. Trusted teacher: From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

I started acoustic guitar lessons from zero and I have learned so much with Sergio, he is an excellent teacher, very knowledgeable and patient, he also encourage you to keep practicing to achieve your goals while providing you with very useful material to do it. I really recommend Sergio as a music teacher, he plays a lot of instruments. Excelente profesor, yo empecé clases de guitarra acústica desde cero y he aprendido mucho con Sergio, sabe mucho y es muy paciente, además te anima a seguir practicando para que alcances tus metas y te provee muy buen material para lograrlo. Mary has been great in our interactions. At the moment, we are meeting twice a week for an hour each session. She started with a class in which we got to know each other and she listen to my goals. Then, she prepared exercises and lessons specially designed to help me reach those goals with practice and also prepared lessons to help me continue growing as a guitar player. Moreover, she goes often out of her way to get songs challenging to my level, but that are doable with enough practice. In all, I am enjoying quite a lot of our classes and I am always looking forward to them.
