Currently I am doing my Masters in Semiconductors and Microelectronics, and I have already obtained a MS in General Physics from Universite Paris-Saclay. During my high-school I was an Olympiad math competitor and I was regularly representing my country in international competitions. I studied at a specialized math school, and I am very used to giving lectures and math classes. I have taught at an elementary school, and my approach to teaching is giving time to my students to work through problems, discussing with them how to tackle them, and generally instilling courage and confidence in their abilities. Too many times I have seen children which are good at thinking, but feel intimated by math, mainly due to the formal nature in which it is taught in high school. I try to break that by giving analogies when explaining concepts and supporting students while they solve problems, instead of showing them solutions and teaching them rote methods. I love to work with both advanced students, to whom I give more advanced problems, challenging them but also guiding them, and with students who are struggling, because I believe they are indeed capable, but maybe missing confidence, or have been scared from the subject through experience. I come from a family of teachers - my grandmother is a Math teacher (still working at the age of 77!), and my mother is an English teacher. Thus, one could say that teaching is part of my family. ;)

I have been teaching English for over 3 years to students who wish to improve their English language skills or become bilingual. All my students are satisfied with my course and those who had entrance exams have passed successfully. There is nothing like having English lessons with a qualified English speaker ;-) I have done all my studies in English and in the United Kingdom, I consider English as being my first language among all the other ones I have learned. Being a "native" speaker for me is meaningless, the qualifications are the most important as well as the experience (you could have a "native" speaker who makes a lot of mistakes because this person is not qualified in teaching). The price of the lessons is moderate compared to the effectiveness of my courses. I use a variety of methods and can easily adapt to the needs of the student. I offer courses at all levels (beginner, advanced to university level) as well as English courses for IELTS/TOEFL, A-LEVELS or correction of written works. I have worked with children as well as teenagers and adults. My 3 years of experience as a teacher in England have helped me to develop the qualities necessary to motivate my students and teach them effectively. Anne is a teacher that prepares her lessons in advance. You get a lot of attention as a student and I really felt welcomed from the first minute. Anne is very clear in her communication and organisation (and this also encompasses how she guides you towards the first lesson, making sure all is clear). It is clear that she has a profound knowledge of the Japanese language as well as the didactical methods to teach it. What I appreciated was her openness and the fact that you can shape the lessons to make them fit with your personal goals you have for studying Japanese, whatever they might be. I definitely recommend working with Anne!

Last year, at that the time my fiancé and I took waltz lessons from Carl for our wedding dance. It was a challenge to find dance lessons in Brussels because both of us are not Belgian and we don't speak either Dutch, or French. In addition, I am really not that good with rhythm when it comes to pre-set dances. Carl was very patient with us (me) and spoke to us in English. Not only he taught us how to dance waltz but also how to behave on the dancefloor as a couple. Everybody at the wedding was amazed of our waltz skills and they loved our wedding dance.
