My name is Valérie. As a native speaker of French and Dutch and graduated as an interpreter of French/Dutch I give with great pleasure French language courses and Dutch for expats in Amsterdam/ Amstelveen for years to all different kinds of students. Lessons can also be followed online. The lessons are given in French or Dutch and are mainly focused on speaking the language. They are therefore practically oriented. The lessons are tailor-made because I follow the wishes and goals of the students during the first lesson. I think it is important that the student experiences pleasure in learning the language, it is and stays a way of communication!

I want to help people become familiar with the Dutch language. Being born in the Netherlands, I moved to the United States at 8 but learned Dutch at an after school program and from my parents. Now that I am back in the Netherlands, I want to help people who want to learn the Dutch language. Whether you want to learn Dutch for personal reasons or for the "inburgeringsexamen," I want to help by offering relaxed and conversation-based classes at your own pace.

I have successfully completed 6 VWO and passed an English Cambridge exam. Currently, I am a law student with a passion for languages, geology and history and I like to share the knowledge - in peace and with full understanding of the student - and together I look for the best method to make this work! I have been working as a tutor for primary and secondary school students for more than 5 years and have experience with people / children who have difficult learning, have little motivation or where the penny has just not yet fallen.

In our class we will be relaxed, I will help you with the Dutch conversation, the grammar, reading (like an article or a topic what I will give you). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.
