I have been teaching Italian for more than 30 years. I started in Milan, I then went to San Francisco and now here in London. My first lesson with you would be to assess your level and start speaking Italian by writing in the chat if we are on Skype or on your notebook if we meet face to face. I use also paintings to explore vocabulary and if you live here in London, we would meet at the National Gallery for example and explore the Italian language through what we see in the painting.

Italian language and culture. According to the student’s level, I will provide both online or in person lessons on Italian vocabulary, grammar and, where appropriate, on some issues and topics in Italian culture and literature. We will focus on listening, reading, writing and speaking and we will prioritize one of these competences according to the student’s necessities.

Knowing languages is a powerful skill to have. I am a native Italian speaker and during this class I am to provide you with a friendly approach to learning Italian in an easy and fun way. When I teach I like to use linguistics to find similarities between various languages and show the relevant links that make languages so rich and interconnected. Lessons will be face-to-face but I am also willing to teach online.

Italian as a Foreign Language at levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1. You will learn not only the grammar and vocabulary of the Italian language, but also how to communicate with native speakers or hold a conversation, as well as gaining an overview of Italian culture, history and society.

- I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living in Rome. I have 10 years teaching experience. I am very patient and I love to make a relaxed and friendly class environment. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. I can help the student to improve the oral, written, and comprehension skills. Most important is that each course is based on the needs, interests and availability of the student. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and put the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course and for each lesson I send students the files that I scan from the various books. Also the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

Today I got the Linguistic Maturità, with curricula in French, English and Spanish. For 5 years I continue to study different languages, in different languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Language, interest in grammar, culture and understanding are not secret, per me! With this enthusiasm I will wait for others to stop in a very simple way. Here we learn in the preparation of those written and oral, and in the study of the various disciplines.

Acquiring additional languages will broaden your horizons; it will enable you to interact with a greater number of individuals and enhance your social network, while also enhancing critical thinking skills from diverse perspectives that may result in significant career opportunities. Cultural awareness, improved communication skills and enhanced academic performance are just a few of the benefits of learning new languages or improving your language skills. For an academic student, I would monitor their current classes, design exercises to enhance their proficiency and concentrate on identifying and ameliorating their weaknesses. In a lesson for a volunteer learner, I would prioritise speaking practice, since the pronunciation of certain syllables is essential.

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).
