About Me

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, I began my self-taught music journey at 5. Over the years, I was a part-time electrical engineer, part-time professional musician, studio recording musician and a faithful church musician. I graduated from Nashville School of the Arts high school majoring in Trumpet & Electric Guitar. Gracefully, I was raised in a music family where harmonies and sounds of instruments would fill the home every week. My family who was inducted in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame helped pave the way for Gospel, blues, country, rock and jazz music in Nashville, holds two Grammy Awards in Gospel music, and has passed their tradition down to a 4th generation.

Later, I pursued my studies in Business and Engineering in France and Switzerland. I quickly noticed the conservatoires’ reliance on an outdated solfège system, which often left students uninspired. I felt compelled to make a difference, leading me to establish a Nashville-inspired music school here, hence the name.

The teaching methods I employ, such as the "Nashville Number System," are unique to the Music City. This system simplifies the entire musical language into one framework, freeing musicians from rigid reliance on sheet music. Instead of staring at paper, we focus on connecting with people and the music itself.

Music is a language that we naturally learn to speak growing up, not a chore. Music theory, ear training, techniques, and rhythm exercises are integrals designed to fast track you to excellence in many styles of music. With great pleasure, I have successfully brought this gift of music to the heart of Europe to share.

My 10 year old son, who no longer wanted to continue the piano after 3 years with a "classical" teacher, seems to have regained his taste for music after the first hour with Joshua. I hope it continues like this! Thanks to Joshua!

It is really not fair to either the instructor or the student to provide an appraisal and rating after only a single class! That being said, they have so far started out quite well. The mutual communication with the teacher is excellent. A good foundation for the lessons is being laid.

Individual or group lessons in classical percussion (keyboard instruments and skins) or drums
With me, you can work on classic percussion instruments (marimba, vibraphone, snare drum, multi-percussion) as well as drums. We will see how we can combine the two and create links between them. I will try to offer visual and auditory resources so that the person has fun and progresses at the same time. It will be a question of understanding technique and theory as a means serving an artistic and musical end. Adapted to each person’s level, goals and time. During this time we will be able to progress on different aspects of the battery - Rhythms and accompaniment patterns in different genres (Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin...) - Independence - Basics - The sound - Tempo and groove - Musical reading and theory - Improvisation When it comes to classical percussion, many aspects are similar, although some differ. - the work of melodic instruments (marimbam, vibraphone, xylohpone) - Harmonic and tonal/modal knowledge of these instruments. - Holds 2 and 4 sticks - Knowledge of pieces from the percussion repertoire. - Opportunity to work on adaptations of classic composers. - Technical and musical work on orchestral instruments

Louana
Private Piano and Solfege lessons for Beginners / Intermediates - Children / Teenagers
Hello, My name is Louana, I am 30 years old and am currently a piano teacher for students ranging from 3 to 65 years old. Indeed, I started very young music with first 2 years of rhythm then 5 years of Solfege Jacques-Dalcroze and finally 12 years of piano including 10 at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva. (each year of study being validated by exams & diplomas) Today I continue to play for fun and give some of my time to teach a few students once a week. Class sessions are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour as proposed by the Conservatory. I teach with my old scores which allows a gradual evolution step by step. Obviously, I remain attentive to everyone's wishes, but I particularly teach classical music because in my opinion, these are the best bases allowing you to play what you want. I am obviously at your disposal for any further information or to arrange an interview at your convenience. Best regards, Louana

Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level
I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
