    About Me

Monica specializes in providing bespoke private tuition of the highest standard and has an impressive track record in preparing students for entry to Britain’s top schools.

Tailoring one-to-one sessions from 7+ to A Level to suit individual needs and learning styles, Monica adopts a highly personalised approach. Adept at quickly establishing a student’s strengths, weaknesses and aspirations, Monica endows her pupils with the confidence, knowledge and skills they require to achieve outstanding academic success.

Whether it is to prepare for a specific examination or to progress in general learning, being tutored by Monica is a rewarding, enriching experience, the benefits of which will last for years to come.

    Education

Monica was educated at Wimbledon High School. between the ages of 8 and 18. She then went on to obtain her first degree, BA Hons 2(i), in English Literature, after which she did a post-graduate in Law.

    Experience / Qualifications

Monica was privately educated at Wimbledon High School GPDST before gaining a 2 (i) Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Hull, followed by a post-graduate degree in Law from the College of Law. This has given her a background in academic rigour and discipline that she is able to pass on to her students.

After qualifying as a solicitor, Monica practised international shipping law for seven years which involved considerable global travel. She has also worked as a banker and international PA, and in the theatre as an actress and director, which has provided her with a number of different skills and experiences that she can draw on when tutoring children.

Brought up in Paris and London, Monica is fluent in French and English. Her father was a linguist and her mother a broadcaster, actress and artist. This gives her an interesting, international background which is of invaluable importance in enabling her to develop well-rounded, cultured, impeccably educated children.

Monica has several years’ experience in providing bespoke private tuition in diverse subjects to pupils of all ages. Most notably, she has successfully prepared children of different nationalities for entrance to Britain’s premier schools, from Winchester, Eton and Harrow, to City of London, Westminster and St. Paul’s.

Monica has provided tuition in many parts of the globe including Russia, Europe, China, Hong Kong and the United States. She has tutored international students in a variety of residential contexts, as well as children of VIP parents. Monica has travelled with some of these families as a private tutor and although her main focus has usually been the children’s studies, Monica has accompanied her charges on organised activities, taking them on cultural tours, museum, theatrical and musical visits.

In a home environment, Monica provides lessons in English, History, Maths, Art, History of Art, French, Drama, Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning. She offers advice on homework assignments; prepares children for specific tests and examinations; and assists with interview techniques for Britain’s major schools. Having worked in the theatre, she can help with elocution, enabling students to attain immaculate ‘received pronunciation’.

Monica has specialist experience of working with children of different backgrounds and cultures and has worked with students suffering from dyslexia, autism and multiple sclerosis.

With the parents’ cooperation, Monica is practised in establishing firm boundaries for children. Able to appreciate the importance of giving encouragement and praise when deserved, she is patient and approachable, and offers unstinting support. This enables her to develop strong bonds with her students.

Philosophy: General Philosophy and Specific Area Tutoring
Philosophy is the underpinning of life, knowledge and civilisation itself. Its effects are found in every field and there is no element of life which is left unchallenged by one of its branches. Metaphysics tackles all that is, epistemology challenges how we may even speak of knowledge and logic stands behind all the marvels of our age. If you are an interested beginner, someone wishing to return to the discipline or even a current student then this course is for you. In this course we will tackle the basics of philosophy from Greece to France and to Germany. We will explore areas of metaphysics, logic, empiricism, rationalism and phenomenology. While such words may sound intimidating, within a short time they will loose their incomprehensible air. This course is taught by a seasoned and qualified tutor with half a decade of formal philosophical training alongside 2 years of in person philosophical teaching alongside another 2 years of philosophical tutoring. In addition you will be benefiting from an additional 4 years of teaching students of all levels from teenagers to young adults and beyond. This course also comes from a current philosopher currently publishing first class research in the field of phenomenology and the philosophy of love. This is a remote course taught from UK time zone. However, all time zones may be possible. The course has the possibility of being specialized for a specific need. If such is the case, the details will be arranged beforehand.

    Danilo Fraga
PhD at University of California teaches Propositional Logic, First-Order Logic, and Non-Classical Logics.
In my classes, I employ a dynamic and engaging teaching approach that combines traditional lectures, thought-provoking exercises, and challenging logical puzzles. I firmly believe that philosophy is not an isolated discipline but rather a vital link between various other sciences and real-world problems. As such, my teaching philosophy revolves around exploring the intricate interplay between philosophy and other scientific disciplines, bridging the gap between theory and practical applications.

Algebra is intended to build a foundation for all higher math classes. This course will review algebraic expressions, integers, and mathematical properties that will lead into working with variables and linear equations. There will be an in-depth study of graphing, polynomials, quadratic equations, data analysis and systems of equations through direct class instruction, group work, homework, student projects and technology.

Learn Spanish with a native speaker, and learn how to express yourself in Spanish (online classes)
The classes would be adapted to your likes. Every person is different so every class will be a unique experience for me; besides, we will talk about a subject that YOU like and are interested in. You will learn the basic structure to form sentences and questions and to have a basic conversation. As someone learning a new language, I understand the importance of speaking like the natives and getting yourself understood. So I will adapt the class to my own experience and your requirements.

Online zoom lessons for Sciences, Maths or Reasoning (Primary school & 11+ standard)
I’m Rukshaan and I plan to study medicine at UCL from September. If anyone wants any sort of help (online 1 hour lessons through zoom) with Biology, Chemistry and Maths for KS3, GCSE or A level, feel free to contact me. I’m happy to have a talk to get to know me, formalities and to know what to have ready for our first lesson, but only if the first proper lesson is agreed and prepared for! I will go through content or topics in a manner which suits the child's learning ability and engagement, since it is a one-to-one lesson, and then build upon that with questions. I learnt to cater the lessons to engage with a more visual approach and taking small steps to encourage pupils to come out of their shell, and be more excited when they make progress. I teach using my iPad, going through notes, handwriting points and sharing my screen so the online lesson is much more interactive and more constructive.

Music Science & The Theory of Existence: Non- Linear Applications of Sound
This class is not what you might expect merely by reading its title. This is an advanced applied- sciences class. The science of music theory. Yes, it is an exact science. Theory, is merely the study of the mathematical and systematic formulas that help us navigate between scales and various parameters of sound. This is an advanced philosophical and deep thinking analysis of the context of all dynamic interactions in music theory, taken out of context, and then used as a vehicle for logical reasoning to determine and contemplate further aspects of life that remain so mysterious and existential to many basic and outdated schools of thought. This is your new beginning and the opening of the the future you want to create. Anything is possible, and there’s no such thing as a wrong note... or is there? Find out together when we study the science of music and the theories of existence.
