I can guide your vocal training with technical and interpretative aspects of your favorite genre. The lessons are 45 minutes long. At the beginning we do some warm-up exercises and vocal techniques, then we will listen and learn from the repertoire we chose together to best improve your vocals. They must be songs that you like and that are challenging enough to excel your learning to the next level of difficulty. For children between 4 and 6 years old, the classes are 35 minutes long. Through games or small choreographies, I intend to reinforce their attention span while they develop their hearing, musical memory, intonation, and rhythm, working to make sure the classes are dynamic and fun.

Hello, My name is Kevin, and I am a passionate guitar player from Austin Texas, based here in Berlin. I grew up studying classical guitar and playing rock guitar (Austin is a great city for rock!) before studying Jazz at the prestigious Thornton School of Music at USC in Los Angeles. I have been performing since the age of six, with solo and group performances in various cities across America, including Los Angeles, New York, and Washington DC. In addition to this, I have been teaching guitar for over 10 years. I am currently furthering my studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin focusing back on my first love, the classical guitar! As a teacher, my focus is always on the individual student: what are your specific passions, strengths, and weaknesses, and what are your goals? How can I tailor our lessons to get us there? How can we have fun? In addition to this, with all my students I work to cultivate a strong and reliable technical ability. A good technique is important. It lays a strong foundation for everything and gives you the tools to truly express yourself musically. I am happy to teach any style (except Reggae because... Nah just kidding) and all experience levels. Beginners are so very welcome! My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!

Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
