Everyone has different goals when playing the trumpet, it is my job to help you achieve them. If you don't have clear objectives yet, I will be guiding you and exploring the possibilities of trumpet playing with you. Also, especially for kids, I can help you find a nice pTrumpet. They are lightweight plastic trumpets made with great quality and available in different colours! Good technique, and a lot of fun The most important lesson I have learned in my career is that making good music is only possible when you enjoy the process. Of course, good technical skills are crucial but studying exercises that you find boring is not the best way up to proficiency. Instead, finding your unique best approach to improve your skills will get you to the moon! For improving your tempo awareness, would you practice with a metronome or would you rather use a drumbeat sample? Your health is important! Body awareness and breathing techniques Not only wind players benefit from doing sport, acquiring good posture habits, and being aware of their breath. It helps everyone in every single aspect of their lives. A good breathing technique will let you play easily, run for a longer period of time, or sleep better at night. On the other hand, body posture awareness helps with productivity and saves money on the fysio. Life hacks that you cannot miss! Improvisation and open-mindedness That very feeling of creating art on the spot. Only a few experiences can relate to it. When we explore and create, our flow state gets triggered. We are fully immersed in the activity and the world surrounding us vanishes. If you like, we will go on a journey discovering new emotions, colours, sounds, harmonies, textures, styles, genres. And improvising on them. Let's get creative! Technology in music. Recording and producing Let's face it, we are in the 21st century and the possibilities of technology are endless in the audiovisual field. Recording for auditions, producing and releasing your first single, live looping, use of effects... You can learn all that with me. Are you curious? Book your lesson now! Ok but, how will my lessons look like? Breathing practice is one of the best ways to start warming up. It will take the first 5 minutes of your lesson and your body will be prepared to start playing. Then, we would go into working on your specific goals. Perhaps, we are practicing music that demands improvement on the higher register, maybe we are working out different scales for improvisation, or it might be the case that you want to discover a new genre and go deep into it. Reading music, ear training, phrasing, music theory, buzzing and embouchure position, articulations (legato, staccato, accents), dynamics... These are only an indication of what we might work on. The final minutes of your lesson will be the moment to relax. We can get creative, play some tunes together, improvise, or even talk about a specific topic like musicality, art, creativity, technique, theory or the music industry for instance. Group lessons and ensembles Making music alone is fun, but playing with people brings it to the next level! If you like the idea, I will bring you together with other fellow students for technique workshops, jam sessions, duo with piano, or whatever other activity we might find interesting for you. I specialise in contemporary styles (anything from the last 100 years), and have found many of my students typically are: - Young children, who's parents are looking for a teacher who is more interested in flexibility and helping the child become inspired and self-motivated, rather than crushed by overly academic and strict teaching. - Adults who feel like their childhood instrumental learning has left them with large gaps in their knowledge and ability, particularly when it comes to improvisation and playing music without sheet music. - Learners who are interested in developing their musicianship, and curious about, but also a bit scared by JAZZ. - Learners who are interested in recording music, and want advice on both music and professional goals and the industry. I am happy to teach grades, but have a strong teaching philosophy that focuses around more specifically tailored learning paths that focus on giving the student the tools needed to become self-sufficient playing and creating music, whether it be to relax at home, play with others, or write songs. I have been playing trumpet for more than 15 years and I am excited to share my passion and show others the fantastic sound of the trumpet. In the past when I was still living in Portugal (my home country), I have been a trumpet teacher for musicians of all ages. Additionally, I have experience in orchestra playing such as Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, NJO (Nationaal Jeugdorkest), and Limburg Jeugd Orkest. I am passionate about classical music, however, I am open to working with any music style, like Jazz, Pop, or Baroque. Before coming to the Netherlands, I graduated from the ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo) in Porto, Portugal. During my career, I have been working with musicians such as Floris Onstweder, Benny Wiame, Kevin Wauldron, Telmo Barbosa, and Carlos Leite. FR/SP My name is Sebastián, Argentine trumpeter, trombonist and composer based in Basel. Since I was 18 years old I am working as a professional musician. I have worked in many educational institutions, such as EMC (School of Contemporary Music) Berklee International Network as Professor of Trumpet, jazz ensemble, and musical notation, in “Orquesta Juvenil del Sur,” an orchestra for underprivileged children, as a trumpet teacher at St Andrew's Scots School and as a private teacher. Apart from my teaching experience I was selected to participate in the renowned Focusyear Basel program along with seven international musicians at Jazzcampus Basel during 2020/2021 and after the end of the program I decided to start a master in composition in the same institution. Already the first year I had the honor of being chosen to arrange music for the wind ensemble of the prestigious MIT University (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and also to write original music for the Jazzcampus Big Band. I graduated from the Jazz career of the Manuel de Falla Superior Conservatory of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina and I received an Honorable Mention from the National Endowment for the Arts from Argentina in Unpublished music in the Jazz category and I also released my first album released by the Chicago label, United States Ears & Eyes Records. In 2019 I was chosen as revelation musician by the Argentine media "El Intruso". I am also working as a producer recording in my home studio.

Classical and Jazz Trumpet for anybody who loves music! (Amsterdam)

Can highly recommend Andrea. He was highly passionate about helping me improve and even spent extra time outside the lesson to help me fully grasp a topic or provide some extra material. I came in with pretty specific goals, and he listened to them and adapted the lessons to fit my preferences. On top of all that that his skill and love for the trumpet and jazz is obvious and infectious.
