For instance: Calculating with negative numbers is a topic that most student find difficult in maths. even those that get it might not be able to explain the reason why -4 + 8 = 4. when teaching this topic, I like using oyster cards, bank account or the weather as an example. `if I have -4 pound in my oyster card what does it mean? ` Now I top up 8 pounds what will my new balance be? This was just an example of how to link mathematics to real life situations. I can teach/tutor students with different abilities this include higher, middle and lower set.
