Welcome to the music class! Here, we are gonna discover the wonders of learning an instrument. From reading note letters, implementing a proper form to sight reading a piece, we are gonna learn in our own pace. If you're just learning music now and it feels like there's a lot to understand, don't worry we're gonna start from the basics. I will help you understand music and its elements. With your dedication and my guidance, I'm positive that we will get a good result!

For any age and at any level - I will prepare piano lessons that are easy to understand, fun and engaging for the student! Whether you want to learn casually, or you're preparing for a big competition or exam, I am fully prepared to help you succeed. I am happy to teach either classical or pop, and am happy to teach anywhere: the student's location, my location, or a webcam - whatever is easiest and comfortable. These classes will include exercises for technicality, as well as learning the context and history of pieces/songs, and creative interpretations.

Hello! I'm Afonso, a passionate piano teacher from Portugal with a bit more than 7 years of experience helping students of all ages and skill levels achieve their musical goals. I hold a bachelor degree in piano performance (Royal Conservatory of Brussels) and my mission is to create a positive, personalized learning environment where each student can thrive. I believe that learning piano should be both fun and enriching. From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

Hello! I am a 29 years old classical pianist with a Master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag. I have taught Piano (and also Music Education) since 2016, to both children and adults. Teaching allows me to bring my passion and enthusiasm for music to the students, and I also find it incredibly rewarding to guide and follow their musical and technical development! I am easily adaptable to the student's musical tastes and expectations/goals in music learning, and I am also very mindful of how I communicate, according to the students' ages and personalities. My approach consists of giving you the necessary theoretical knowledge for what you wish to play; involving you actively in the choice of the pieces/songs you will play; setting up a long-term plan for your repertoire, so that your development is made step by step in a challenging - but achievable - way (and this way, you will feel more motivated!); giving you enjoyable and creative practicing strategies; creating rich imagery revolving around the piece - by making up a story, relating the music to emotions, etc.; and also positive feedback!
