I am Thijs (28), an experienced drummer and musician, with a wide range of musical interests. Studying jazz drums under the wings of Lander Gyselinck at the KASK/Conservatorium in Ghent. I also took master classes and lessons from/with Joey Baron (US), Kendrick Scott (US), Corey Fonville (US) and Stéphane Galland (BE). I am also active in various bands/groups. My lessons, depending on the level, focus on both the fundamental building blocks of drumming and music as a whole. These building blocks together with the student's interests form the curriculum, so that it meets the student's wishes as best as possible. I also teach music theory/music theory. Some aspects of this are also offered during drum lessons. In the end, it's you who will enjoy it the most, so that's what I'm focusing on! Hi I'm a Dutch drummer based in Brussels since 2015 and I have been teaching drums since 12 years. From September 2023 I will be teaching at the Conservatory of Maastricht in the Netherlands. I have just finished 6 years of studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels during which I obtained a bachelor's degree in classical percussion as well as a bachelor's and a master's degree in jazz drums, notably following the teachings of Stéphane Galland (Aka Moon, Ibrahim Maalouf). Teaching is an important part of my profession as a musician, I want to be able to share and pass on my knowledge as much as possible. I give individual lessons by adapting as much as possible to the needs and desires of each student. I organize my lessons in two equally important parts: the technical work and the music work. It is essential for me to develop a solid technical background while very quickly starting to apply it by playing pieces that the student will choose with me. My lessons are for all levels, from beginners to experienced drummers.
