Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. My goal is to design an individualized course, so I take the time to write detailed comments on corrected work or tips to ensure maximum success for everyone. For example, an editorial correction can easily be the subject of a detailed commentary of 4 typewritten pages. For adults (FLE): In order to optimally prepare the first ones, I take the initiative to inform myself in advance of their objectives / expectations. The other alternative is to make a PV of the course that I send (or that I print). TECHNOLOGIES FOR LEARNING. Hey, My name is Laurie and I am an independent FLE teacher, graduated in French and Romance languages and literature since 2012. I have five years of experience under my belt (abroad and in Belgium). I have created a teaching method for online courses. The course includes: -The material (articles, videos, exercises from images and texts, grammatical theory, links to the exercises...). I use Google Doc so it's best to have a Gmail address to access it. -The correction of exercises outside of class (the written expressions are corrected outside of class, or with the student, according to his needs). -Access to an application (free) to study vocabulary on your smartphone. -A vocabulary sheet - pronunciation - grammar / conjugation, sent after each course. -If necessary, a vocabulary recording (for beginners). -The realization of online exercises and tests from the sent vocabulary sheets. -Motivation, laughter, good mood :-) My method: - It's based on speaking. -For grammar I use a question/answer method (learned during the training at the CERAN center). -We work on pronunciation with the verbotonal method (exercises for setting your voice, for rhythm, etc.). I might even make you sing! :-) -Everything goes through the spoken word before the written word, but I clearly adapt to the needs of the students. -The course is a little different for children and adolescents: I use interactive games and cards via webcam. I suggest you to accompany you during your meals only in French and German. Simple exercises on editing, exposés, revisions, which I will complete myself on your behalf if you are asked in class. Regarding the specific goals that you do not have in class, we will understand things. I suggest you also help you with the written work you need for the oral work.

I am a Belgian (Flemish) and French student who has recently completed a Master's degree in International Law at the University of Amsterdam. I completed my Bachelor's degree in International Relations at the University of Geneva (magna cum laude) and also spent six months on exchange at UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara). Additionally, I attended an international high school in France for my secondary education, where I specialized in sciences and achieved a score of 18/20 on the final scientific baccalaureate. Here is an overview of my previous tutoring experience: 2021/2022: I worked at "bijlesthuis," a Dutch tutoring institution, where I primarily taught french, dutch, and english to adult learners seeking to improve their language skills. During the same period, I also provided classes to other students through Apprentus. 2021: Through Apprentus and other websites, I assisted several younger students (ages 5-15) in Bern and Geneva, helping them improve their skills in subjects such as math and french. 2017/2020: I worked for three years at a tutoring institution in Geneva called ARA, where I primarily taught french, mathematics, and english.
