About Me

About me:
- Sciency dude with a high-achiever mindset – top education, top grades, long plans.
- Love to teach – 4 years of tutoring experience, 1.5 years of formal employment as teaching assistant.
- About to start my PhD in the beautiful Vienna.
- Play violin.

My teaching style:
- I don't answer questions, I ask: to ensure a student gets a proper understanding of a subject, I break down information in small chunks and questions until the person comes to the conclusion on their own.
- I don't make you remember, I make sure you truly understand: in order for any piece of information to be stored in the long memory, a high volume of neural contacts has to be formed and trained. This can only be done by two things: (1) regular revision (2) building additional neural connections by pinning the knowledge to the broader ideas and the underlying logic. The second is what I am particularly after.

Education

- University of Cambridge, MPhil (MSc) with distinctions in Computational Biology.
- University of Vienna, BSc with distinctions in Mathematics.
- A-Levels: A* Mathematics, A* Further Mathematics, A* Russian.

- University of Vienna, currently enrolled for MSc in Bioinformatics
- University of Vienna, done Introductory Courses for BSc Biology

Experience / Qualifications

Currently:
- Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA): Research Assistant for Alex Bronstein
- Starting September: PhD in Mathematics and Applied Computer Science at Ista.

Teaching experience:
- Tutor and Teaching Assistant at the University of Vienna for 2 semesters. (official employment)
- Tutor and Project Manager at Maths+ (volunteer project at the University of Vienna for Ukrainian refugees. official payed employment)
A Cambridge and UniVie Grad and a soon-to-start PhD student in Computer Science and Mathematics at ISTA to teach Maths, Stats, CS and/or Computational Biology/Programming modules. Ich spreche auch Deutsch und kenne mich mit dem Schulmaterial (z.B. Matura) und Modulen aus Uniprogramm (BSc Mathe auf Uniwien) aus. If your goal is not just to learn some formulas by heart, but to gain a deep insight into how mathematical topics are interconnected, or to get a hand at coding and how to think algorithmically to solve complex tasks – I am just the right fit for you or your child. Additionally, I am personally familiar with the British educational system – from A-Levels (3 x A*) to University (MSc/MPhil from Cambridge with distinctions).
Statistics provides a valuable framework for analysing data and formalising how to derive conclusions from it. It is based on a very mathematical fundament, but stretches out to out-of-the box methods available in every computer. For whom: - You have a School class in Statistics or R - You are writing a BSc/MSc Dissertation and you are lost: for example, you have a questionnaire and you need to analyse the data in there to write your thesis. - You have practicals or need Stats for work. You can learn: - If required, mathematical foundations, formulas and logic underlaying statistics - What is a p-value, what do all these words like factor analysis, normal distribution and test ACTUALLY MEAN and WHY do we need those? - How to import your dataset and analyse it with R.

Mathematics for students of all grades, IB and GCSE
Mathematics is the best way to enhance your intellect but also work on your intuition and your ability to see patterns. Good day, my name is Alex, I have been teaching math for over 10 years to hundreds of students. I will teach all grades from elementary school all the way to high school and IB/GCSE etc. My philosophy revolves around these three values: -Encouragement -Inspiration -Discipline I specialize into teaching mathematics and programming, but in some occasions I teach physics too. Feel free to contact me.

Individual programming lessons for beginners or intermediates
What we will do depends on your goals and your knowledge level. The following topics which we can work with: - Programming Foundations (for beginners, C, Java, or any language as foundations are usually language agnostic) - Object Oriented Programming with Java (OOP concepts) - (For Java) Spring/Spring Boot Framework (here we could go into any direction, also general libraries and packages used in a backend application for web development) - Best practices and debugging - Writing Unit/Integration tests, increasing test coverage. - Or you can just hit me up with a custom request and we can take a look, as there are many many individual topics one can dive into.

Concepts of Physics (Fundamentals and Applications for Research and Industry)
This is about learning the fundamentals of physics and how they are used in real world. The real word examples are from my resarch experience at University of Vienna and work experience at Intel as a application and Training Engineer. Here you can choose what you want to learn: * Basic Physics: Newtonian physics, atomic physics and basics of quantum physics. * Modern/advance/application Physics: Advance concepts of quantum physics and materials science.

Programming/Artificial Intelligence/C++/Python/Java
This class is suitable for students that want to start their careers in the Computer Science domain. My goal is to help students in different Computer Science fields like Programming (C/C++, Python, Java, Databases), Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning, Computer Vision), doing homework or personal projects. My goal is to prepare practical sessions for you with many exercises and theoretical parts in order to understand the important things by implementing different tasks. I have experience in teaching (6 years in a private IT Academy and at my University as a Teaching Assistant). I am working, also, with children (8-13 years old) in Scratch Programming Language. If your children want to start doing easy visual games suitable for their age, this is the best Programming tool.

Statistical Analysis with Python and R (Rstudio) - Intro to Data Science
By delving deep into the practical applications of statistics and data science, this course is designed to set you up for success. Learn from real-world examples: Instead of spending hours on theoretical material and trying to relate it to practical issues, we will focus solely on applied statistics. Programming will allow you to apply theory to real-world problems, equipping you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed. We won’t be spending hours solving math problems by hand for reinforcement, as this isn’t school. Instead, we’ll use cutting-edge methods and code libraries that leverage the latest software releases to maximize productivity and efficiency. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
