Utopian Studies extends the notion from Thomas More's Utopia to the emergence of dystopian literature, highlighting the connection between fictionalized literary works and reality. The seminar is designed for students with advanced reading skills as the primary readings are mainly novels. Students are expected to carry out individual research. Further readings (journals, academic papers, etc) will be provided to support the discussion during the class. French can be a difficult language to learn, especially if you are not surrounded by it all the time. However, a new language can be a useful for a CV, for University application, or even for your own cultural knowledge and experience. I can provide help with existing homework if you are already at school, and, I can be a source of practice (as practice makes progress!). I am very flexible and we can discuss what you feel you need to study. I will be here to offer advice on different things you can do to improve.

In this class I can provide foundation french lessons in speaking, reading, writing and listening. Depending on what you wish to achieve the lessons will be altered to fit your needs. I try to create a relaxed environment while keeping the lessons as rich as possible so you get the best experience.

You'll learn and improve your French skills (oral, written and comprehension but also pronunciation). We can work with help of materials such as books, music or movies. I have studied at the French Lyceum Alexandre Dumas in Moscow and have been learning French since birth. I teach French and Russian to kids, students and adults. I have been teaching French/Russian since I was 14 years old. I helped my classmates pass their French and Russian exams by teaching them vocabulary and grammar. I have also helped them understand history, French and Russian literature, philosophy... I have also helped kids learn French/Russian from the beginning while concentrating on broadening their general knowledge. I have different approaches and techniques depending on my student. -If I teach French/Russian to a kid, the lesson usually lasts for an hour. We play games, watch short movies, sing songs and discuss his topics of interest. The lesson is highly interactive, and the child is highly involved in the process. -If I teach French/Russian to a student/adult, the lesson may last up to an hour and a half. Methods vary, depending on the level of proficiency in the language. We talk about different topics of interest and develop speaking and writing skills in a way that is interesting to the student. If interested, French/Russian literature is studied by authors such as Baudelaire/Tolstoy and Maupassant/Turgenev. We could also converse about French/Russian history, culture and the country's traditions.

French is a very beautiful language but this one is rather complex. I offer fun learning, adapted to the knowledge of the apprentice. The goal here is to progress by taking the time necessary to memorize each notion. The first course will focus on an assessment of the apprentice's level in order to subsequently offer a personalized program adapted to level.

I have been an examiner for AQA and am familiar with both AQA and Edexcel GCSE and A-level specifications, having taught the Edexcel spec before. I have tutored French to children (beginner to bilingual) and adults. The planning and delivery of my classes will be dependent on the individual needs of my students. I have also worked as a primary school teacher and am an excellent teacher of primary school maths and English.

This class is for anyone who wishes to learn German from someone with native level skills. Whether it is to learn the basics as a beginner or to hone essay-writing skills. Can comfortably adapt to any curriculum (IB, A-Level, GCSE). Alternatively, if desired, I can help develop more analytical literary skills and give guidance on how to study German Literature. In both cases, I prioritise verbal dialogue as well as writing tasks, particularly for more advanced levels. I am very flexible when it comes to the structure of lessons/their intensity and feel it is usually best to discuss this on an individual basis.

I am studying Social Anthropology and Politics at the University of Edinburgh. Classics are one of the biggest interests of mine; I started studying Latin and Ancient Greek languages and literature 6 years ago and I have been teaching for three years. I think studying these languages led me to be more aware of who I am as well as understand what is really worth. Latin (Ancient greek too) lessons consist of two different parts: grammar and literature. By studying grammar you are not going to just receive boring notions about the structure of the language, but you are going to deepen processes and rules that form Latin; with this method we are going to discuss about Latin and Greek mindset and then discuss about important themes studied by ancient people in literature. Furthermore, according to your needs and goals, we can exercise on translation of texts.
