As a former Geography teacher for a few years at the start of my career and now as a young retired ex-Chief of Police and perfectly bilingual Dutch-French, I offer a daily availability to help out during the day where it is needed. I have the necessary pedagogical skills to help raise the knowledge of others to a higher level and to fill certain gaps. This can be for tutoring / explaining Geography and other Sciences to pupils / pupils to Dutch language lessons for adults and (extra) lessons in other languages for pupils and pupils in function of improving their language skills. If there is a need for it, I can of course also provide an explanation of the Belgian state and regional / community structures and their role and functioning, but also provide meaningful interpretation / explanation of relevant / useful criminal aspects of application in our society.

In these personal sessions I offer children and young people support with study skills, homework guidance and subject-specific tutoring. We work together to improve learning, planning and organizing and to improve results for specific subjects when necessary. We also pay attention to personal development: dealing with motivational problems, fear of failure and increasing self-confidence. The guidance is fully tailored to individual needs, so that every student can develop confidently and successfully – both at school and outside of school. I work from a warm and positive approach, in which growth, independence and enjoyment of learning are central.

In our class we will be relaxed, I will help you with the Dutch conversation, the grammar, reading (like an article or a topic what I will give you). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.
