I can help provide technical training with painting being my speciality in acrylics, oils, watercolour, gouache and ink. I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. My name is Hugo, I am a passionate artist and educator based in the vibrant city of London. With a background in sculpture, painting, and drawing, I've had the privilege of delving into the world of art both as a creator and as a mentor. As an experienced tutor, I'm excited to share my knowledge and artistic journey with you. We will work on your skills from the ground up or pick up where you left before. Every lesson is personalized to you and I can teach you any medium and material you want to learn. From oil and acrylic painting to even sculpture if you wish.

I have been involved in art for twenty years. I started out painting and selling both oils and watercolours. This developed to become, for a while, the main source of our household income. I managed to have solo exhibitions in Devon and Kent in the UK, as well as USA, Japan and, when I lived in France, several there too. When I returned from France, I started my academic studies in Fine Art Sheffield Hallam and Leeds Arts University where I receive a BA and MA in fine art. I have great interest in the theory of fine art, such as composition, perspective, colour theory; the technology of fine art in understanding materials used and techniques applied. The theories of doing that allow successful expression. As well as purely fine art theory, this allows me to bring in psychology and other scientific thought, not to usurp fine are theory, but to bolster it both to confirm existing theories as well as opening out possible avenues for discovering new ones. In painting I see myself as impressionist but recently have moved more towards realism to better communicate with internet viewer. This is because, when a piece is photographed, people cannot see complexity of the brush strokes used. I like to paint genre where complicated compositions and intellectual work is involved but I also do portraits, still life and landscape. In sculpture I use mostly archaic composition, as exemplified by Henry Moore and Aristide Maillol. I really enjoy sharing my love of art with other. I believe everybody can express themselves through art (and probably should) and I love being a catalyst to make that happen. I do not use restrictive instruction where I tell students what they must do, but help them develop themselves - help them to discover their own way while sharing helpful insights from my own practice and wide knowledge of fine art practice and theory.

With a master's degree in Language, Literature and Civilization of the English-Speaking World, I took a large number of courses in history, art history and of course languages, literature and translation during my studies at the universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh and Montpellier. This is why I offer courses in most of the literary and linguistic subjects taught in middle and high schools: Spanish (my mother tongue, which I have been teaching for years in private lessons), English (a language I have spoken for almost 15 years and which I taught in the national education system for a year), French, history and art history. All of these subjects fascinate me enormously and I want to pass this passion on to my students. It is entirely possible to combine several of these subjects, which are ultimately very linked to each other.
