Or if you leave too far, I can come to your place. My name is Matteo and I am an Italian flutist and musicologist, based in Brussels since 2010. I graduated in modern flute at 'B. Marcello' Conservatory in Venice and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Barthold Kuijken and Frank Theuns in the Baroque flute. I hold a master degree in Philosophy and Musicology as well. I hold a PhD degree in music performance at Cardiff University, School of Music. From 2013 till 2015, I have been teaching at the Venice Conservatory "B. Marcello", giving yearly lectures and seminaries on the historical repertoire for the flute. Since 2021, I have been appointed music curator of Coudenberg Sound Box Fest, a music festival which aims at celebrating the Belgian music heritage and takes place every year at the beautiful archeological site of the former Royal Palace of Brussels. I recorded for Warner Classics & Erato, and a soloist for Arcana/Outhere Music ('La solitude à deux. Solos and duets by G. P. Telemann' in 2018 and 'Affect is no Crime. New music for old instruments' in 2019). I regularly play with leading ensembles and orchestras such as Millennium Orchestra (Leonardo Garcia Alarcon), Vox Luminis (Lionel Meunier), Les Muffatti (Peter van Heyghen), Coro & Orchestra Ghislieri (Giulio Prandi), Le Concert d'Anvers (Bart van Reyn), B.O.X. I am a professional flutist with over 5 years of experience in teaching. I have worked with people aged 5 to 75 and taught in five different languages: English, German, Ukrainian, Polish, and French. I hold a pedagogical qualification from the Academy of Music in Krakow, where I obtained a Master's degree with distinction in flute performance. Recently, I graduated from the Conservatoire Royal de Liège, where I earned a specialized Master's degree in flute. With my help, my students have become first prize winners in competitions like the renowned "Jugend musiziert" in Germany. They have also prepared for playing in youth orchestras such as Das Bayerische Landesjugendorchester or worked on repertoire for different kinds of concerts. As a teacher, I am very flexible and always strive to adapt to the needs of my students. I am passionate about the flute and music in general, and I greatly enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.

The shinobue is a flute that is used in street music but also in more sophisticated artistic performances. Japanese music has developed its own conception of beauty. Learning this music is a way to enter Japanese culture! Traditionally, Japanese music is learned orally through shoga (a song using onomatopoeia). During the course, you also experience this method and will learn several types of music. I was pleasantly surprised that she played Western classical music, contemporary music and also Japanese music. With Nozomi's knowledge of Western and Japanese music culture, it is always very inspiring for me to learn from her. Eventually, I might become a member of the Kagura band and I hope to be able to play contemporary music too in the near future. By studying shinobue, I can deepen my knowledge, insight and experience of traditional Japanese crafts and arts. Nozomi, thank you very much. I specialize in tutoring the transverse flute. At this course you will learn how to improve your skills on playing the flute. It can involve also learning the basics of the music theory. The preparation for competitions and for entry exams is also a purpose of this course.

Hello everybody! I'm Maria, a graduate in flute performance at master's level. Besides loving to play my instrument, I have a passion for teaching music and flute. I have had experience with children who were starting studying music and flute, including those preparing for their entrance exam to an academy! I have also worked with more advanced students, deepening the improvement of their base and technique in playing the instrument to perfect it always with a very positive working environment! If you want to start learning to play this instrument, I can be of great help to make your first steps easy and fun! We can learn how to read notes and rythms also, and create a good playing technique with exercises to practice not only in class but also at home. If you are already a flute student and would like to receive extra support for your lessons at school, I will be happy to work with you to get the most out of the instrument and your musical skills. I love to deepen the student's technique to teach them to work in the most efficient way possible, providing individual study techniques for practicing alone.
