I have worked fulltime, for the past 15 years, as a language teacher and translator. I was born in Sweden, to Danish parents and live with an Englishman. I teach said three languages to both private and commercial clients, placing great emphasis on client needs and abilities. Cultural knowledge is also very important to the understanding of any language and is therefore included in all courses. The dreaded grammar is the fundamental building block to a language, but I try to make it as fun as possible.......as well as the homework and self-study.

In Reading Therapy we will work on understanding where your difficulties or challenges lie. We will work on: Phonemic Awareness Phonemic Blends Sight Words Decoding Syllable Recognition and breaking words up into Syllables Reading Speed CVC blends CVCC blends Beginning and ending sound blends Reading rules and so much more... During each lesson we will work on building this skill by starting where the person is at, revising skills touched on, and building their confidence towards where they could be, because believing in yourself, is the first step to progression.

This lesson aims to help the student differentiate and correctly use a / à, and / est, son / sont, using fun and interactive activities. The session begins with a detective game where the student spots homophone errors in sentences. He then discovers the rules using flashcards that associate each word with a simple trick. Various games help to anchor this knowledge: the target game to complete sentences, the right path game where the student physically chooses the right answer, and the hidden words challenge where he guesses and justifies a homophone in a sentence. Finally, the student becomes a teacher and invents sentences for the adult to complete. A quick review concludes the session, with a small challenge to complete at home. Learning is based on manipulation, play and experimentation, making the session dynamic and effective.

I provide one on one virtual dyslexia therapy using Take Flight: A Comprehensive Reading Intervention for Students with Dyslexia. The curriculum was created for children who have been identified with Dyslexia. It is an individualized Orton-Gillingham based approach which addresses all areas of language development needed to create successful spellers, readers and writers. What is Dyslexia therapy? Intervention for dyslexia directly, explicitly and systematically teaches an awareness of the sounds of language, letter-sound associations, vocabulary and strategies for understanding written language. Guided, repeated practice enables the child to apply what they have learned efficiently. Intensity (e.g., smaller group size, extended length of sessions and treatment, more individualized lessons) is what distinguishes dyslexia intervention from regular reading instruction. We are retraining the Dyslexic brain by lighting up the parts of the brain that are working well, and helping to compensate for the part that is weaker. Who can teach Take Flight? I have been certified to teach Take Flight, only certified practitioners may utilize the Take Flight program. The program was created at the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia & Learning Disorders at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. It is a highly effective, multi-sensory, explicit, systematic phonetic method of instruction for both reading and spelling. We start at the phoneme level of language, at very basic skills, and progress to the more nuanced skills such as morphology and etymology. How often do children need therapy? This program is intended to be taught 5 times a week for 45 minutes each session or 4 times a week for 60 minutes each session. If necessary, we can make accommodations for timing. Therapy is a marathon, not a sprint.

This private course is designed to support all types of learners with the foundational skills needed for developing their reading and/or math fluency. I'm a Master Teacher with 8 years of classroom teaching and 5 years of private tutoring experience. I draw from the Orton-Gillingham methods for teaching reading and spelling to support students with dyslexia and other learning challenges. We'll get to know one another, assess the student's current level and create an individualized plan for the student during our first hour-long class. I am a young lady in my twenties who is an English native. I am a psychologist by profession and have had experience working with students with learning disabilities although not certified. I have one year experience of teaching English online and one year experience of teaching our local language called Shona to non-Shona speakers. I love communicating with people from different walks of life so I to am a language learner. I speak very little Korean, little Portuguese and am working towards perfecting the two languages.

Danish for beginners and current students who are learning Danish in school and need some help with their material. I am born and raised in Denmark so my Danish level is native 100%. I am also open to working with Arab-speaking people to strengthen your Danish. Depending on your level, we will work with some fun activities, and do some speech exercises as well. Update 15/09/2020: I have, by now, had experience with 2 different age groups on Apprentus; A 7-year-old and a 29-year-old. I definitely see a difference in their learning pattern, and it has helped me broaden my horizon in terms of teaching techniques! I've been an educator for over 20 years and have a Master's degree in Specific Learning Differences. I specialize in working with students with dyslexia and/or ADHD in literacy and math and am Orton-Gillingham trained. I've taught in public and private schools in the US, Singapore, and Bali, and I have been a private tutor for more than 10 years. My goal is to help kids build competence and confidence in foundational skills through individualized instruction that fits their evolving needs. I am currently based in Asia and available to work with students remotely worldwide. I am also able to coach parents on accommodating their children's needs at home.

Early intervention is crucial for students with specific learning difficulties/dyslexia. I had a specialist degree in teaching students with dyslexia(PGcert in literacy difficulties - University of Birmingham). I use Orton gillingham approach which is considered the gold standard of interventions for dyslexic students. I have tried my best to educate myself on different interventions that would help my students throughout my teaching journey. When it came to students with dyslexia, my research was taking me down several different avenues. There is a lot of information available on dyslexia interventions that are centered around personal successes. While these resources were helpful, I needed to take my interventions a step further for my students that were really struggling with reading. This is when I found Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia. What is Take Flight? Take Flight (TF) is a multisensory, structured approach to teaching written by the education staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children (SRC) hospital. Take Flight builds on the success of previous dyslexia intervention programs developed at SRC: Alphabet Phonics, Dyslexia Training Program and TSRH Literacy Program. It is a two year, Orton-Gillingham based curriculum designed for students 7 years of age and older who have been identified as having dyslexia. The reason Take Flight initially caught my attention is because the whole program is developed based on research! Research and data! These are two words I absolutely love as an educator Who Can Administer Take Flight? Take Flight trained therapists are called Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs). CALTs have extensive training needed to serve students with dyslexia. In order to become a CALT a person must: Hold a bachelor’s degree Go through a two year training program Complete a minimum of 700 clinical teaching hours Submit video demonstrations, book reports and chapter reviews Complete a minimum of 200 instructional hours Pass an exam that results in certification by the Academic Language Therapy Association
