Hi my name is Rory, I am 27 years old and have been playing bass since the age of 10, recieving lessons from a professional. I then began playing guitar when 15 and built up to a high standard of playing. Being competent in tabliture, scales, keys, and a lot of the theory and technical aspects of these instruments, I am offering lessons for all ability lessons and ages. I have been teaching for just over a year now to students from as young as 6 and as old as 50, some with special needs and learning difficulties, motor function deficiencies etc. This has given me an excellent window into the life of teaching and tutoring music and being able to discover what allows you to learn most effectively.

I have played music all my life hailing from a Jazz family upbringing, and now I am at the stage where I get to play amazing shows and enjoy all the beautiful parts of music. This has inspired me to become a teacher, which I started over a year ago now. I want to share the amazing parts of music with as many people as possible and I find teaching is a great way to do this. Everyone learns in a different ways, so I strive to personalise lessons to your specific needs and goals. I remember myself going through all the lessons and private tutors and sometimes finding it almost making things harder or putting me off, but I keep an open mind and relate to the reality and the core purpose of music, which is to connect with people and the world and allow yourself to be you.

Experienced teacher of Oud and oriental Arabic singing for over 11 years, I am Lebanese and currently residing in Germany. I studied for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. I taught at the Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and gave private lessons. In addition, I was conductor of the Loubnan Assalam oriental orchestra for over 5 years. My recommendation for learning the Oud is to start with the study of notes and musical notation before tackling pieces. Although some students prefer to play songs directly, understanding the basics of musical notation allows for faster progress in the long run. My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, from beginners to more advanced. Classical training enables you to sing in any kind of way, so don’t hesitate and let’s sing!

Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example.
