Hello, my name is Alexandra. I like to plan both the methodology and the activities of the classes according to: 1. The student's interest, the objectives he or she seeks and 2. Your profile (temperament, personality, individuality), since not all people learn in the same way. These two points are very important to me, so that the class experience is something dynamic (whether it is a child, a teenager, an adult or a group). The place of the class, a time in which we learn by having fun and enjoying the process of learning.

It doesn't matter what level you have, how old you are or which reason you have to learn music. My lessons are adjusted to everybody's level and age. I like to encourage curiosity and I adapt the lessons to the student's interests and needs by offering knowledge in a personalized and structured way. The pillars of my teaching are patience and kindness. About me: My name is Uma and I come from Spain. I have lived in the Hague since two years ago. I did my first bachelor in modern flute in Madrid (RCSMM), graduated from my master in Zürich (ZHdK) and am currently doing a bachelor in Historical Informed Performance Practice (HIPP) on historical flutes at the Koninklijk Conservatorium den Haag. I have more than 10 years of teaching experience, and I keep learning and educating myself pedagogically in order to find the best balance and way to teach for my students. Hi, I am Thore. I’m a German Bachelors degree flute student at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen. During my studies here I could and still can gather a lot of knowledge about methodology and pedagogy and could already make a few teaching experiences. For me teaching means learning from each other. Thus the student of course gets insight to my knowledge about music and instrumental technique but I will also learn a lot from the student about the individual factors of flute playing and music making in general. In my lessons I focus a lot on breathing and posture because for me these two are the most influential factors to healthy and beautiful playing. I am also open to incorporating the students musical interests e.g. Disney- and Pop-songs. Lessons can be conducted in Dutch, English and German.

On a personal level, playing the instrument develops discipline and focus, as mastering the flute requires precise coordination between breathing, fingering, and embouchure. Additionally, playing the flute can help sharpen your musical ear, improve your sensitivity to rhythm, and strengthen your skills in reading sheet music. These skills can be applied to other aspects of life, such as managing stress or improving your memory. Socially and artistically, the transverse flute is an extremely versatile instrument that can be integrated into a wide variety of ensembles, such as orchestras, chamber music groups, and modern ensembles. This diversity offers many opportunities for collaboration with other musicians and exploration of varied repertoires, ranging from baroque to jazz. Furthermore, playing the flute fosters creativity and personal expression, allowing each flutist to interpret works with their own musical sensibility.

I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.
