Greetings! I am a geospatial analyst at Transport for London and I specialise in building and running Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through different technologies. As part of my specialisation, I teach and assist early and mid-career geographers with GIS, specifically how to retrieve and create data, run any type of geospatial analysis and interpret the results. I work in both QGIS and ArcGIS environments and I would be more than happy to help with specific projects the students have in mind, if applicable. In my opinion, Geography is one of the most important subjects to study as it gives a global perspective on current, real life matters. It also drastically improves one’s ability for impressive dinner party conversation ;) I can break down and explain all topics of school geography in a simple, accessible way. I understand that some complex concepts can be hard to grasp in a classroom, thus I can identity where students may be falling down with their understanding and tackle those areas first. Both Human and Physical Geography require a specific style of essay writing that took me a while to master, but going through that process has helped me to teach exam techniques in a straightforward way. I can create custom presentations for students and walk them through content they may be struggling with, or go over school work that needs elaborating. My teaching style values the personal engagement of the student so that they may form independent opinions and ideas that will make them excel. Discussion and debate are a key aspect of forming this confidence, as well as fun and interactive activities to cement understanding. My goal is to keep students feeling motivated and engaged in the lesson. Feeling more confident in geography will help boost the moral going forward whether they go into doing general exams or SATs or GCSEs or start College. It can seem a lot but I will introduce it slowly so it does not become daunting and homework slowly introduced after the lessons. In each lesson you will learn a variety of skills and knowledge depending on what I have planned and you are more than welcome to give me work that you have been struggling on so it can be put into the lesson to go through together and practice and learn. This will be based on the school year. It may be from writing notes, drawing and annotating diagrams or maybe drawing shapes. This will always be an interactive lessons as you shouldn’t feel uncomfortable to ask questions.

Hello, my name is Kate and I am a first-year student at the University of Toronto, majoring in political science and double minoring in European Affairs and Human Geography. I've attended the British School in the Netherlands and have completed both my GCSE's and the IB. During my GCSE's I took separate sciences, spanish, english literature, maths, drama and geography with grades ranging from 6-9. In IB I took higher level english literature, geography, spanish and standard level maths applications and interpretations, psychology and biology. My predicted was 39 and I've recieved 34 points in total with acceptance from universities like University College London, Kings College London, University of Toronto, Leiden University, Amsterdam University, Maastricht and I passed the Oxford exam.
