If you live in Georgia and you want to communicate with people or if you’re just interested in this wonderful language, then this course is for you! Besides being a native speaker, I’m into linguistics: I’m doing my Masters in Romance Philology (French Philology). I spent a semester in Montpellier, France and studied French and Comparative Literature in Montpellier Paul Valery University as a part of the Erasmus Exchange Program. I graduated in Art Theory and History from Tbilisi State University, so I have a deep understanding of linguistics and culture. Apart from learning the language, you will become acquainted with Georgian literature and culture during your studies.

I am a certified teacher (I was accepted into the CAPES of Classical Literature in 1999) and I have practiced my profession for more than twenty years in French establishments, public and private, both in France and abroad. In recent years, I have had students from all classes from Sixth to Terminale, and I am familiar with the current programs and exams in all three subjects. I am used to preparing students for various exams (DNB and baccalaureate), including oral exams. I can give support lessons to students in difficulty, or who want to fill any gaps. I can also help students who simply want to improve their skills. I can also teach Latin and ancient Greek (to students of all levels, including beginners). I strive to adapt to each person, and to define a strategy to achieve the objective they set. I regularly review with the student their progress and what remains to be improved. I also worked with students with special needs (school phobia, chronic illnesses, expatriation, etc.). I am comfortable with digital tools and online courses. Finally, I also have some experience proofreading academic writings (dissertations and theses).

Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice.
