Hello! I am Irene, a graduated Master student at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium, and I offer cello lessons to people of all ages, both online and in person. I have more than 7 years of experience teaching both adults and children, in private lessons, group lessons and music schools. I have also taught music theory and piano to beginners. The lessons could work in different ways: regular lessons every one or two weeks, or just a couple of times, etc. I have had students that only wanted to learn a bit, and I also have students that have continued for some years with me. I could also adjust the duration of the lessons from 30mins (especially for younger kids) to 1h. The lessons can be in English and Spanish, and now also in Nederlands! (work in progress!) The lesson can be in the student's home or in my studio in Vogelenbuurt, and also online! Flexible hours. Cello lessons for all levels! You have probably heard cello in classical music, in baroque music, in contemporary music, but also in pop, electronic and folk music. Cello is one of the most versatile instruments, and wherever your interest lies, I would love to accompany you down that road. There are so many ways to learn a new instrument, let's discover that together! I am also currently a teacher at Leerorkest in Amsterdam.

My goal as a music teacher is to make the students able to experience all types of emotions by playing music, understanding the musical process from its roots with a creative approach. My lessons are designed according to the specific needs of each student and the main objective is to guide them in the optimal direction to achieve their full potential in a fun way. Thereby, the instrument becomes a tool to understand what making music really means and will be a way for the student to express his emotions. My approach to the lessons can provide a lot of creativity, fun and originality. How will my lessons look like From the first lesson, the student will start making music. We will begin learning the basic concepts of music, developing listening and rhythmic skills with fun exercises. Lessons will also be focused on learning the basics of music theory, creating a solid technical base and paying special attention to having a relaxed and healthy body posture. My academic and professional experience has helped me create a teaching method where improvisation is an essential tool for the student. I enjoy working on it from the beginning since it is a perfect way to develop musicality. Playing different music genres together As a musician, another of my sources of inspiration is to get to know and to learn from different styles, playing and experimenting with music from the classical period until the most avant-garde style. During the lessons, we will play pop, jazz, classical and many other styles. I would like to explore the instrument with the student in a fun way, growing, improving, and discovering new ways of making music together. During the lessons the students and I could play together, either playing some duos with the cello or accompanying them with the piano, which is an activity that I really enjoy. Playing together with more people and with a polyphonic instrument from the beginning will give the student clues to learn how to play in ensembles and listen to all the different voices that can be part of any musical composition.

She lives in Utrecht and studies at the Rotterdam Codarts Conservatory of Music, and has already a master's degree from the Utrecht Conservatory (with pedagogical training as well) She teaches in English, Spanish, Italian, German and soon in Dutch. Lessons can take place at your place or at my place (in the centre of Utrecht) as I have a beautiful grand piano at my disposal. For young, teenagers and adults, all levels, no previous experience necessary. Hallo allemaal! I have been working for 12 years as a piano and music teacher (I started very very young, when I was 14 years old, because I always liked teaching): I have experience in private lessons and official state music schools, with children from 2 years and adults of all levels, both teaching individually and in groups. We learn through passion. The more we feel we can receive learning, the more it is transmitted through passion. I was lucky enough to have very good teachers throughout my education and now I want to pass on my knowledge to my students. In my teaching, I want to "read" the student sitting in the room with me and conclude which of the many possibilities might work specifically for him or her. I was trained as a classical musician and over the years I also found folk music very interesting because it connects you with the stories and traditions of a certain country or region.
