Film History and Theory

Unlike my other more structured classes, this one is aimed at people who simply wish to have a space in which to engage in visual art in a very free way. My knowledge, experience, and critiques are of course available, but the point of the course is to experiment with techniques and create without judgement, restriction, or direction.

I'm teaching practical techniques to greatly improve your art and also the creativity boost methods you'll need to develop original ideas. I'm giving fun lessons on subjects that are necessary fundamentals of being able to create strong and bold artworks. I can teach digital art, oil painting, watercolor, pencil drawing and comics. We'll design classes together based on your needs. All skill levels are welcome and will benefit from this lessons.

1. Exhibition - Aperture: Size of the diaphragm (f/2.8 more light, f/16 less light). - Shutter speed: Time the shutter is open (1/1000 freezes, 1/30 blurs). - ISO: Sensitivity to light (ISO 100 less noise, ISO 3200 more noise). 2. Composition - Rule of thirds: Divide the image into 3x3 and place the subject at the intersections. - Guide lines: They direct the viewer's gaze. - Balance: Harmonious and simple elements. 3. Focus - Adjusts the sharpness on the main subject. 4. Lighting - Use natural or artificial light depending on the desired effect. 5. Equipment - Camera, lens, tripod and basic accessories. 6. My course is dedicated to the 'basic' rules of drawing and after that finding your own path, your own style. If you know how to use perspective, composition, capture the right proportions, capture the volume and be attentive to detail, you are fully prepared for making any kind of art you are into. When we will reach this point, I will also help you to go further and develop your own style. I will teach you how to work with visual observation, perspective, volume, light and shadow, composition, proportions, and sketching using graphic material. In order to learn how to draw you need a lot of practice, so I will assign some homework as well. The course is suitable for people of all ages and with different aims, it is always possible to change the learning program for individual purposes. With this course, under the guidance of an experienced academic artist and researcher, you will develop theoretical, but, most of all, practical skills and tools for creating your own artwork: from a thought to a visual result. The focus of this course is on creative writing exercises and artistic methods such as drawing, aquarelle, collage, photography, video art, and other multimedia. This will allow you to better understand practices of contemporary art and to participate from your own home. We will create beautiful texts and poems, expressive sketches and creative maps, illustrative paintings, and photos. The classes are tailored based on the student's needs and wishes, which means different creative exercises. After creative writing, when we reach the visual process, the introduction and guidance for the practical skill of the desired medium will be offered. This class is offered to anyone, no matter the level they have. As an artist with traditional art education, and contemporary art research degree, I believe I can help you regardless if it's for your own practice and interests, or if it's for an academic guidance.

Remember the goal - you want to make good art. A good critique will give you new insight, new direction, career advice and energy to do this! Where am I going with this? Too much or not enough? Learn to define your position, your place and your market. I will offer perspective on your strengths and constructive feedback on what needs to be improved. There are ways to inspire what is working and how to improve your weaker points that builds confidence, technique and style. Editing is key - colour, form, aesthetic, emotion, influence and pace. I can help you understand exciting trends in Contemporary Art and that relevance to Art History. I will provide you with the resources to dig deeper and show you your next steps. Learning objectives : Understanding art appreciation, visual literacy, culture and history. Documentation will be followed by experimentation process. During the practical process, the learner will need to demonstrate skills in drawing and painting media while doing direct observations from objects, photos or even online resources. The student will be guided coherently towards final outcome. The outcome : This learning process will reinforce the basic skills during practice and allow the students to have reflection of their own while creating art. The process is also about enjoying good practice of art with proper basic structure.

Egg tempera is one of the most ancient historical art painting technique. It preserved as a main technique to paint orthodox religious icons. It is possible to learn it and paint your own icon. I have 9 years of practice teaching people how to do it. We work together step by step to understand the technique, the way to prepare wooden panel to paint an icon and the techniques of making a good project to make the icon fit to the board. We also learn how to make gold leaf layer on the nimbs. Your icon will be a real, crafted icon.

I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.

I am here to help you surpass yourself! ;) Professional dancer, choreographer and teacher, I am creative, empathic, dynamic, and versatile. Holder of a Bachelor's degree in contemporary dance and creation of multidisciplinary performances from the Iceland University of the Arts, a Master 2 in Art Research & International Creation from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, I am an artist member of the International Dance Council at UNESCO. Since 2020, I have been engaged in academic research on medical and spiritual dance whose practice is called Transcendental Dance (Transcendental Embodiment). I intend to present this research in a doctoral contract. My professional experience extends internationally where I had the opportunity to work alongside various renowned companies and to organize internships in France, Iceland, Sweden, Mexico, Czech Republic, Spain, Turkey and Asia. Also, I had the opportunity to dance for haute couture houses during Fashion Week in Paris. I teach contemporary dance, technical floorwork (floor work), contact dance and classical dance. My classes focus on mindfulness, musicality, harmonization of energy flows, improvisation, muscle strengthening and coaching in choreographic composition for competitions, exams, galas, and weddings. I am an artist and philosopher from Amsterdam currently living in Antwerp. I studied in London where I acquired a BA from Art Academy London and a BA in philosophy from St Mary's University London. Artistic development starts by identifying your artistic interest. As artists, we don't always know why we draw and paint the things that we do. Yet they are not random. What captivates us or draws us towards certain artworks? This might be the tonal way in which light reflects, structural forms or mathematical division. The point being, is that we all have such aesthetic interests and step 1 is finding out what interests you! Step 2 is helping you express your interests through painting techniques, styles and materiality. But it all starts with you. What do you want to say? And how? I will help you do this through discussion, looking at your previous work (if you have any), introducing you to a LARGE variety of artists, potentially copying their styles. I adjust my classes according to your needs. The goal is simple: to come to understand your artistic interest, help you find techniques to express them and develop your artistic language. (Please note that just because you have found an artistic interest and a way to express it, it does not mean that you must do only one thing for the rest of your life. It is the downfall of creativity to repeat and paint the same way over and over again. Instead, allow your interests to drive your creativity. Let it be the starting point, venture out and discover it from various angles and ways of expressing it they change, we must remain honest and respond accordingly such that our artistic language can also grow.)
