My childhood is inextricably linked to the power of stories. The books I devoured, their plots, and characters deeply shaped who I am. This passion followed me to the University of British Columbia, where I majored in Sociology and Creative Writing. While a subsequent career in marketing (both in Canada and Karachi) provided valuable experience, I always felt a yearning for deeper fulfillment. My foray into film production ignited this passion, confirming my true calling as a storyteller and creative. However, it was when I began working with children that I truly found my joy. Guiding young minds, fostering their unique voices, and equipping them with the tools for confident expression – this is my true prerogative.My teaching philosophy centers on cultivating the intangible: a love for creation, expression, and the pursuit of knowledge. These sessions allow the development of skills and knowledge of the trade, with the game facing the camera, familiarization with the audiovisual environment and the camera tool, in the art of acting. Although we will touch on key grammatical terms, the focus will be on your creative expression through the written word. In these classes, which will be tailored according to age, experience, needs, and areas of interest, students will learn the basics of writing short stories, including flash fiction; poetry, including free verse and traditional forms such as Haiku and sonnets; and creative prose, including life writing or short creative essays. You can attend as many classes as you like, and together, we will build your skills and understanding of creative writing, including identifying the stories you want to tell. The classes will be a mix of presentation, 'warm-up' writing activities, discussion, reading and analysing key texts, main writing activities, and redrafting, editing and proof-reading your work.
