Jazz Singing - For Beginners and intermediate Singers - Level 1 & Level 2

Singers like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra have left an indelible mark on American popular music through their jazz vocal stylings, fusing a conversational delivery with rhythmic and melodic improvisation. This course is tailored for each student to teach the unique characteristics of jazz singing and how to apply these characteristics to create your own sound. You will learn jazz phrasing, how to integrate good technique into jazz song styles, and how to sing with a number of time feels and grooves.

The course focuses on jazz vocal technique and delivery, including use of vocal inflections, dynamics, articulation, and interpretation, and how to improvise through rhythmic and melodic phrasing. The course then will go deeper into jazz improvisation expanding the musical vocabulary of scat studying syllabels, rhythm, and melodic ideas.

In this course we will apply these concepts to jazz tunes in various tempos and grooves, including ballads, medium swing, fast swing, and bossa nova. You'll move on to learn important considerations for effective stage presence and use of the microphone, too.

Great teacher, experienced and tailors classes to your level
Davide is a great teacher and I have seen improvement with in the first lesson. I will definitely be taking lessons with Davide when I next get the chance.
During this class we will put a special focus on improvisation and expand the thematic of Level 1 & 2. During this course Davide will talk about all the most common vocabulary of bebop improvisation skills: Arpeggios, Scales, Diatonic Approaches, Chromatic Approaches, Double Chromatic, Triple, and the most efficient ways of studying them as a vocalist. The goal of these workshops is to improve our ears, timing, confidence and leadership as singers. With a special focus on vocal improvisation and the interaction between band and singer. This course will be implemented giving you access to 3 booklets about Scat Improvisation vocabulary and technique Davide wrote at Berklee School Of Music for the Danilo Perez Foundation Workshops he tough.
This course is designed to teach how to make your voice sound more powerful, how to use vocal technique to expand your range and expression, and how to become more confident in vocal performances. You will solve your registers, how to control your voice in every point of your range, to manage any dynamic, and find your own unique sound. In the end of the course you will be able to sing effordlessly without microphone adding all the natural harmonics to your voice. You will learn how to use the diagram and the resonators naturally and effectively. How to do runs, scales, melodic embelishements as well as building a repertoire and start to plan for your future career.

Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

Improvisation for beginners and intermediates (any instrument)
For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

Ziad
Oriental Arabic Oud and Singing Teacher in Germany
Experienced Oud & Oriental singing teacher for over 8 years, Lebanese, currently residing in Mönchengladbach. I studied for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. I was a teacher at Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and also offered private lessons. Additionally, I served as a concertmaster in the oriental orchestra "Loubnan Assalam" for more than 5 years. My reason for relocating to Germany is to complete my studies at the University of Kamp Lintfort. I am fluent in English, Couramment en français, ولغتي الأم هي اللغة العربية. Unfortunately, I speak only a little German (Aber leider spreche ich ein bisschen Deutsch). My recommendation for learning the Oud is to begin by studying musical notes and notation before delving into songs. While some students prefer to jump straight into playing songs, understanding the fundamentals of music notation accelerates progress in the long run. Dedication and hard work can yield significant progress within a year, enabling you to play simple tunes. However, if you lack a passion for music or the instrument itself, I advise against pursuing it. As a friendly and passionate teacher, I derive joy from witnessing my students' progress and enjoy playing duets with them. While in-person meetings are preferable, I also offer online lessons for those unable to meet in person. Feel free to leave me a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Florence
singing and vocal singing technique.
Whether you are a beginner or already advanced in your practice of singing, whether you want to sing alone or in chorus, I propose to work your voice, with attention to the breath, posture, specific exercises, to put a good and healthy technique serving your pleasure of singing. You can bring the pieces you like, classic or not, and / or I will propose a repertoire adapted to your voice and your desires. I can also help you decipher the pieces or your choral scores, give you notions of music theory singer in order to be more autonomous in your choral practice for example.Work on the connection to the breath, the opening of the body and the resonators, the accuracy and the interpretation, discovery of the repertoire adapted to each voice, exploration of the tessitura, preparation for entrance exams for conservatories, choir parts for choristers. But also for all the other styles (variety, gospel, soul, pop), learning techniques that will allow you to expand your expressive palette: voice of chest / voice of head ..., all supported on a solid technique of breath . The work on the breath and the voice also allows you to better place your spoken voice, to manage your stress, the public speaking, to gain confidence.
