Mercury Prize-nominated DJ and producer (under the name OLUGBENGA as well as with the band Metronomy) can take you through a step by step plan for producing electronic music in a variety of genres, mixing and mastering your own tracks either for commercial release, playing out when you DJ or just for personal use.

Alessandro graduated with honors at Conservatoire “G. Martucci” in 2008, obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Classical Saxophone. He then moved to Belgium, where in 2013, he got a Bachelor Degree in Jazz Music at LUCA (Lemmens Instituut) in Leuven, studying with Frank Vaganèe (Leader of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra). Here he founded a new jazz band called L- Town Connection, winner of Dinant Jazz Festival Young Talent Contest in 2011. Alessandro then continued his studies at CODARTS in Rotterdam, obtaining his Master’s Degree in Jazz in 2016 and studying with the teachers Simon Rigter, Dick De Graaf, Ben van den Dungen and Milan Bonger. He has collaborated and performed with various artists such as Frenna, Giacomo Turra, Akua Naru, Sly5thave, Ed Motta, Young Gun Silver Fox, DeWolff, Dawn Brothers,Shirma Rouse, Ghostface Killah (Wu- tang Clan), Dj Yella (N.W.A.) and many others performing at renowned venues across Europe and USA such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Lowlands, Melkweg, Couleur Café, Koninklijk Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen, Gentse Feesten, Vienna Sunsplash and many more. .

My life is all about music and creativity. I'm a proudly self-taught multi-instrumentalist and an eternal student. EARLY CAREER I worked in London as a session musician and touring drummer and pianist for more than 10 years with Shaw Thing Artist Management. I played with talent including Joy Crookes at much-loved places such as The Roundhouse, Abbey Road and The Edinburgh Festival. I also worked as a private tutor during this time, helping 50+ children and adults learn drums, piano and bass - many of whom got all the way to Grade 8. TODAY In 2022 I moved to Brighton for a new musical chapter. I now work as a composer/sound designer and creative director for award-winning artistic projects and brands including premium travel company Kuoni. I’m my happiest when I’m creating and making things happen, co-ordinating talented teams to get the job done. I also offer a transcription service, delivering detailed scores which I create by ear. Finally, I am an examiner for Rock School & Yamaha, assessing students across a range of popular instruments, and continue to teach one-to-one in-person and online. PROJECTS & AWARDS I am the producer of a short film titled When We Fell, featuring an original soundtrack released under my artist name Spoon. In 2021-22 it was presented at festivals worldwide, won three awards and was nominated for the Audience Award by the prestigious British Animation Awards. I have also released a video game that music-lovers will enjoy called Keep The Music Alive, a retro 2D platform game that follows the creative journey of a composer - and features beautiful Contemporary Jazz/Classical tracks. QUALIFICATIONS I have a BMus in Music Performance & Production from the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM) and am currently studying an MSc in Music and Sound for Film and Games at the University of Hertfordshire. With a good grasp of basic concepts, one is able to both communicate with fellow musicians and take control of their musical journey. It also makes it easier to start learning new instruments. I aim to make learning fun and easy for people of all levels and as a multi-instrumentalist, I will give you practical applications for theoretical concepts. The idea is to give you the knowledge and power to play what you feel.

Beatboxing is a relatively unknown discipline, even though it allows for an absolutely incredible musical variety: percussion, whistles, bass, special sounds straight out of an alien movie... our body is an instrument in itself, and learning beatbox is accessible to everyone! (Take a look at some beatboxer videos online, you'll be amazed!) I'll take you step by step, starting with easy and useful sounds, gradually moving towards impressive, fun sounds, or those of your choice. In addition, I practice with you and complete your knowledge of music theory and particularly rhythm when necessary. Folk or classical acoustic guitar. The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation. For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...). For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...). Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. Turkish reed flute is an essential instrument of Turkish Classcial Music. It has a deep and dense culture dating from 13. century around. If you want to learn about how to perform it you first need a teacher educated by masters on this field. As of many teachers you can find online but you make sure that not every tutor meets with traditional style. Solfege and method are inseperable parts of the lessons. So for beginners and intermediate students must follow a compotent tutor to learn about the way of classic form.

Currently a DJ and having done 5 years of piano, I offer my services for private music lessons. Musical composition (by computer): I can teach the basics of composition and combine my personal experience with the course to give you a solid foundation for your personal development. Piano: Can teach coordination exercises, learn pieces that the student has chosen according to their level and play with one or two hands (bonus for anything related to improvisation) DJ: As I know that the world of DJs is a wild fauna where no one gives you any pointers, I can guide you through this fabulous universe by showing you how to master a turntable, what a DJ needs, etc.

In piano lessons, we use the book method of Notus or Hal Leonard. Everything is explained step by step and you gradually learn to read music and know the piano. At the start of our lessons we'll take a look at what is important to you. What goals do you want to set, and what feels achievable and comfortable? We set long-term goals of, for example, a year. Completely tailored to where you are at, right now. During the lessons I am patient, motivating, encouraging, and complimenting. I'll point out what could be better, and also pay attention to how you can play more easily. And much more. Tailored to your needs and wishes.

Logic Pro is a powerful but complex software tool that can be used to create everything from very basic recordings and compositions, to huge professional productions. You'll learn all the skills you need to set up and use Logic Pro; how to record and edit audio, use software instruments and plug-in effects, and how to mix and process your sounds. Lessons can either be conducted online, or at my studio, if you're local to Plymouth (it's not in a restaurant, I don't know why it says that!) I've been using Logic Pro for almost 25 years and have taught it at University level.
