I’m an experienced guitarist and I can help those of all abilities and ages looking to learn the instrument or develops their skills. I’ve been playing for 16 years and I’m well versed in most genres and styles of music. Open to all stages of learning whether you want to focus on fundamentals and guitar theory or develop your own style and technique. I can support anyone looking to gain knowledge of harmony, chord melody, soloing, popular and unconventional song structure and style. Or if you want to learn other songs and build up your repertoire. My musical background is primarily as a jazz guitarist, specialising in improvisation and composition. This is something I can work on with students once core skills are acquired. I can also help get students get up to speed with their grade exams and offer musical theory support. Aside from my experience as a guitarist, I play in different bands as a Writer and composer. I have experience as a recording artist at Abbey Road studios and I can teach students about song writing and composition. I’m fluent on music softwares such as Logic Pro X and Ableton and offer Music Production and Recording technique classes at my own studio in Clapton East London. My name is Marat and I am a London-based pianist, musicologist and composer with more than 20 years of experience. I am also a dedicated and experienced piano, composition, music theory and music technology tutor offering excellent and in-depth tuition for any age or ability. I have been teaching extensively in schools and privately, and giving lectures at universities. I would be happy to share my passion and enthusiasm for music with you! My musical path started at Moscow Jurgenson Music School in Russia at the age of 7 where I took my first piano and music theory lessons. After 8 years of full-time studying I graduated with distinction. In 2015, I graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London specialising in classical and contemporary performance (under Andrew Zolinsky) and music education. Recently, I have completed my masters programme at Goldsmiths, University of London specialising in contemporary musicology (under Keith Potter) and music management. Since 2012, I have been performing and premiering contemporary classical music solo or with ensembles at various venues and events, including IKLECTIK, Arebyte Gallery, Sound Festival, Southbank Centre, Cheltenham Music Festival and Teatro Baltazar Dias (Madeira, Portugal). I am a core member of the New Maker Ensemble, a group dedicated to experimenting with various art forms of new music and performance art. I regularly write articles and album reviews about new music. I have given lectures and presentations on new music at various conferences and events, including the Gnesin Contemporary Music Week 2020, 2021 and 2022, the Gnesin Academy and ZIL Culture Centre. And I even have my own podcast about new music. Tuition is open for both online and in-person classes. All ages and abilities welcome: from age 5 to adult learners, beginner to advanced.
