Hello, My name is Giorgia. I hold a research doctorate in modern and contemporary philosophy. I am currently pursuing a second doctorate in Comparative Literature. My academic research is interdisciplinary and concerns the relationship between contemporary literature and philosophy, and the interactions between literature, philosophy, the arts and cinema. My experience in teaching philosophy dates back to 2011. I have taught philosophy in both high school and university. My courses are aimed at all students, from high school to university, who wish to progress in their knowledge of the history of philosophy. I have been studying philosophy for 23 years. The book “Delftse Foundations of Computation” especially its second chapter will be the main source of our lesson, but other more in-depth books will be also covered if you want to improve even further on logical thinking. KEY OBJECTIVES: • To introduce the right toolkit to take on contemporary art of any kind, no matter how difficult, minimal and conceptually driven it may be. • To learn to spot and call out artwork that is being difficult or challenging because it’s a load of rubbish. • To make you feel more confident when making and looking at contemporary art! How can we be so categorical about something as subjective as deciding if art is ‘good’ or ‘bad’? Think of it like this: If you’re not any good at carpentry, you can still identify a poorly made coffee table. Basically, what we’re going to try to do is understand how to recognise if an artwork has been responsibly made or not. In the case contemporary art that has been made responsibly, this class will suggest that your kid could not have made it, any more than they could have removed your appendix, designed a suspension bridge or landed a crashing helicopter. In the case of art that has not been made responsibly, then yes, perhaps your kid could have made it.
