Trusted teacher: Ciao! I have been teaching Italian for the past twelve years. I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules. I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...” When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling and we will go on “talking walks” because when you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.

With more than 200 students through all my life, more than 500 shows (mostly in Spain but also around Europe and a couple of minitours in America), 15 CD’s/EP/singles published (as a frontman, sideman and producer), a bachelor in jazz-modern music guitar (Taller de Músics - Barcelona), half bachelor in piano jazz (Conservatori del Liceu - Barcelona) and a long professional music career behind me playing a ton of different styles (pop, rock, funk, metal, jazz, folk, rumba, reggae...), I’ve come from Barcelona to Rotterdam to continue my musical journey by doing the latin master at Codarts. I’ve been working as a music teacher for around 12 years (I’m 29 years old), both doing private lessons and in different music schools, being the most important one the “Escola de Música Creu Alta” in Sabadell (Barcelona), which is one of the biggest music schools in Spain (with more than 900 students), in which I was the Head of the Modern Music Department. I teach guitar (electric and classical), piano (electric and classical), composition, musical production (with Logic Pro), ensemble and modern music theory AT ALL LEVELS, from 100% beginners to people who want to prepare themselves for the music bachelor. I can adapt totally to what the student wants and is looking for, but also, since I have a lot of experience, I have the lessons well planned, I know which songs and exercises work better depending on the aspect that we want to work (tempo, chords, scales, sound, improvisation...) and when I see someone playing I can see in which aspects is the person strong, and in which aspects has the person more problems, so that way you won’t waste your time! Also I’m a fun and very empathic person so we will have fun, which is the most important thing!! As someone struggling with learning programming in Python for so long, Jerry's lessons literally saved me. His clear explanations helped me understand the concepts better, and the examples he provided helped me concretize the topics in my mind so that I was able to apply them by myself later. He was very patient and helpful when explaining the topics and when giving me time to think about the possible formulations of the algorithms, which released the stress of passing my university course and enabled me to actually understand the essence of Python and how to think when programming.

Reconnecting with Pau as a guitar teacher has been as good as I remembered. He's a a great instructor in all the aspects: he's patient and when something is difficult for me he always finds and alternative that is complementary and it really helps me. He knows a lot about music and different genres but if you want to play something he doesn't master, he'd look into it and make it easy for you to enjoy it. The way he plays is so good he's an inspiration and it makes you want to be better. Always my number 1 option guitar teacher!

I had my first Italian lesson with Davide on 24/9/21. My first impression was very good because he does a very good assessment before he starts of your level and of your goals and based on that he adopts his learning approach perfectly yo your needs. I give Davide a 5 rating after one lesson and would be very surprised if my view of him will change. On top of his ability as a teacher, he is a very nice and modest person. He knows how to drive a conversation and seems have a lot of patience! Looking forward to the next lesson!
