If you’re interested in learning the flute and/ or gaining a new understanding of music through harmony, this lesson will provide that for you. If you choose to, we’ll cover technique, improvisation, reading music, tone control and expression. We’ll also go over the fundamentals of harmony to give you the tools that will help with any other instrument. Your listening skills will also be developed. All entirely up to you, of course, we’ll only go as far as you wish.

Gita is a professional flutist and teacher, originally from Canary Islands, Spain. She graduated from her bachelor’s degree at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with the highest grade of her class. She studied with professors Kersten McCall, Vincent Cortvrint and Mariya Setmotjuk, flutists from Het Concertgebouworkest. As a pedagogue, Gita is often described as enthusiastic and energetic. Her genuine motivation to teach makes her a very fun tutor, rejoicing with each of her student’s achievements and improvements. She is experienced with both adults and children, beginners, and advanced musicians. Her teaching method varies and adjusts to the students' needs and wishes. She pays special attention to creating a personalized education and experience for every one of her learners. Gita works on both technical and musical aspects in a (very) conscious way, making particular emphasis on having fun with the little ones! The lessons are generally given at Oosterdokskade. I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

My flute lessons are available in a flexible time frame from 30 minutes to 1 hour, with a frequency of weekly or biweekly, depending on your preference. As a graduated flutist with a bachelor and master degree from the conservatory, where teaching was an important part of my education, I have experience with both group lessons and individual lessons. My method is focused on enthusiasm for music and flute playing, where I welcome every student, regardless of background, language or level. Everyone is welcome to start their musical journey with me!
