    About Me

    Hi there!

I am a Piano Teacher and Registered Music Therapist from Australia. Assisting people in attaining musical and non-musical goals and sharing joyful moments through music is one of my strongest passions.

Past clients and students described me as an attentive, engaging, and personable teacher/clinician who gently extended them and often exceeded expectations.

I also play guitar and produce music on Ableton and have a basic knowledge in a variety of other instruments.

    EDUCATION

    - Bachelor of Music Studies (majoring in Piano) | Sydney Conservatorium of Music |
    - Master of Creative Music Therapy | Western Sydney University |

    ACHIEVEMENTS

    - Australian Music Therapist of the Year | Finalist | 2022

    PROFESSIONAL VALUES & BELIEFS

I strive to work collaboratively with people in my care through attuning and adapting to meet individual needs. I adopt a person-centred and strengths-based approach to empower people to thrive. Music is boundless and so are the sessions I offer.

    PIANO PEDAGOGY (In-Person)

I have twelve years experience in helping students find enjoyment and confidence in playing their favourite songs on the piano. I teach people of all ages ranging from complete beginners to diploma levels.

In our lessons, we engage in a combination of improvisation, using sheet music or learning by ear, music composition, music theory, and technical work as it serves the student's goals and interests.

My practice as a Registered Music Therapist has allowed me to extend my teaching services to people living with neurological conditions and disability using standard and adapted methods.

    MUSIC THERAPY (In-Person & Online)

In my six years of clinical practice as a Registered Music Therapist, I have supported people across the lifespan living with neurological conditions, Autism Spectrum disorder, disability, and palliative needs in group and individual contexts.

I employ evidence-based techniques as singing, songwriting, instrumental play, and movement or exercise to music to assist people in reaching functional goals for wellness and increased quality of life. Such goals are derived from physical, cognitive, social, and psychological domains of health and well-being.

Some of my strategies are underpinned by experience working in multi-disciplinary teams with physiotherapists and speech pathologists.

I use validated assessments to track progress, where appropriate.

You do not need previous musical experience to participate meaningfully in music therapy.

    ENGLISH TUTORING (In-Person & Online)

I am a native speaker of English with a fascination for learning languages. I also speak Cantonese and am currently learning Spanish and German.

As a learner of languages myself, I have insight into what works and what causes frustration. Textbooks will only be a bouncing board for the creation relevant learning materials that will enable integration into everyday life.

Piano Lessons by Award Winning Film Music Composer
I am an Award Winning Film Music Composer of Short and Feature Length films with distribution on platforms such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Sky as well as official selection in over 40 International and Academy Award Qualifying Film Festivals, including Cannes, Hell’s Half Mile (Michigan, US), Los Angeles International Shorts, FilmQuest and Urbanworld (New York, US). My soundtracks are distributed on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc) and feature scores composed for electronics, Full Orchestra, small ensembles and genres like 20th Century Orchestral, Minimalism, Motown, Avant Garde, Musique Concrete and many more. As your piano tutor, I want to teach you how I learnt piano, and show you how to be creative with music, at the very least for enjoyment, but also for any professional aspirations into composition. I start by familiarising my students with the fundamentals of music at the piano, how the piano is structured, arpeggios, baselines, chord sequences, melody sequences, etc. We take these fundamentals and build sophistication of musicality with a dynamic curriculum. Lessons are structured by familiarising with musical concepts by a demonstration, playing together, and playing solo in a way that aims to be accessible and sensitive to the student’s sensibilities.

Guitar Lessons - all ages and ability levels welcome!
Hi everyone! My name is Curragh and I am a guitar teacher from the UK. Learning an instrument is hugely rewarding and a great investment, one that I believe is accessible to anyone. Perhaps you're intrigued by the guitar and want to give it a go... maybe you are a parent looking to relax for an hour and have fun or enrich your child’s development and give them a skill they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. I am a lifelong lover of music with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Guitar from Leeds Conservatoire and a BTEC diploma with distinction in Music Practice. I have played in many different ensembles and have attended the Bath International Guitar Festival in the UK, on a scholarship. My teaching philosophy is that the ears are just as important to train as the hands and I integrate this into my lessons. It is also important to enjoy playing and feel excited by it, however, as this is the best motivator for students! It's how I learned after all... I am happy to teach absolute beginners through to advanced students, ages 7 and up. If you have a particular style of music you are interested in or some favorite songs you've always wanted to learn, we can cover them! If you are more advanced and want to bring your playing to the next level, I can coach you so you develop your unique 'voice' on the instrument and have a technique to burn.

Piano Lessons for all ages and in different languages
Hello! my name is Sarah. I have a certificate in Classical Piano Performance. I have years of experience in teaching music in different languages (Arabic, English, German and French). In 2020 I finished my master's in Music Therapy in Germany. At the end of my studies, I did my research on online music playing and wrote my thesis on music interaction through online platforms which gave me a great deal of experience when it comes to online teaching. In my online lesson, I use several cameras from several angles to give the student the chance to see what I am doing. My lessons (Live and Online) are fun and very beneficial, and all my students showed fast progress

Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level
I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

    Mary
Instrumental Teacher ( Piano, Guitar, Bass & Ukulele)
Welcome to the music class! Here, we are gonna discover the wonders of learning an instrument. From reading note letters, implementing a proper form to sight reading a piece, we are gonna learn in our own pace. If you're just learning music now and it feels like there's a lot to understand, don't worry we're gonna start from the basics. I will help you understand music and its elements. With your dedication and my guidance, I'm positive that we will get a good result!

    Pedro Gorgoglione
Violinist with 15 years of experience with the instrument, completed professional degree. I also teach basic concepts of musical language.
I use the methods with which I learned, such as books like Suzuki, Czerni, etc., always adapted to the student's age and level. The student's musical preferences will also be taken into account for learning pieces or songs they enjoy. There will also be an emphasis on public performances, as this is one of the most challenging aspects for musicians. We will try to organize concerts or recitals in a family setting to practice this skill. Finally, motivation will be reinforced by preparing duets (two violins, violin and piano, violin and guitar, etc.), as this is one of the most effective methods for improving skill level.

Music Theory and Composition with a focus on Film and Media
Music Theory is a vital step in approaching Music Composition, especially when done for film and media. Therefore, I've designed this course to teach both topics as independent and inter-connected subjects. In this course, the student will learn about the foundations of Music Theory by studying melody, harmony, rhythm and timbre. To learn about Music Composition, we will then focus on how these work together to create a piece of music. Finally, we'll redirect everything we've learned and new knowledge on scoring a film scene. Moreover, we'll study pre-existing films and their music to understand the vital relation between image and sound.

Music Tuition available in Piano, Theory, Composition and Orchestration
I specialise in advanced Classical and Jazz Piano, Composition and Arranging, as well as fundamentals of Theory of Music for students from ABRSM Grade 5 to Diploma level. I offer substantial discounts for families and for bundles of 5 or 10 lessons. I have a well-equipped studio with a new grand piano as well as other keyboards and music tech gear, and teach both in-person for students living in Edinburgh, and online internationally. As many of my students are from Edinburgh university, where I also teach Orchestration and Screen Composition, daytime lessons can be flexible from week to week. My classes are helpful to students seeking to pass the higher performance and theory grade examinations, as well as to university undergraduates seeking to fill knowledge gaps and to explore composition and orchestration in greater depth. Students I have taught invariably achieve excellent results, as high as 144/150 in recent ABRSM practical piano examinations, and as high as 100% in Theory of Music. I also teach Music Technology, specialising in Cubase DAW as well as Sibelius and Dorico scorewriter applications.

Private guitar lessons for every level: from basic chords to out of the box improvisation
Hey! My name is Richard and I give private lessons to all levels. For guitar, it is important that you can improve yourself in a pleasant environment in a fun way where your interests are central. Do you want to delve deeper into a certain style? Do you want to create your own sound on your guitar using amps, and pedals, ...? I can help you with all that! Knowledge of solfège or music theory is not required, we can always discuss this in class if you wish, but that is certainly not mandatory ;) I have been playing the guitar since I was 9 years old and for several years now I have been playing in professional bands with which I have been able to play on sugar rock, for example. The lessons would take place at my home in Mol or via webcam. If necessary, we can always agree on something else. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions and I will answer as soon as possible. See you soon! Richard PS: my specified hours are a guideline, if this does not suit you, you can certainly send us a message and we will try to arrange something :)
