I am a Clarinet, Saxophone and Vocal coach from Zimbabwe with over a decade of teaching and performance experience from leading a successful solo career and working as a music teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz singing from Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU) Lausanne where I am currently studying a Masters in Jazz Pedagogy. I have also studied music in Dublin Ireland, where I acquired a Higher Certificate in Jazz and Contemporary Music from Newpark Music Centre's Berklee Track program whi h is facilitated by Berklee College of Music in Boston. I was the 2024 laureat of the Foundation Casino Barrier Award for talent and creativity and a 2018 winner of the Zimbabwean National Arts Council's National Arts Merit Award (NAMA). For any singing practice, whether variety singing (pop, rock) or opera singing, part of the singing course should ideally incorporate practical work on technique and vocal anatomy. I therefore propose to start by warming up the body and the voice, which allows you to connect to yourself, to your breath. Gradually, the intensity rises, we are therefore heated, and we can then approach the pieces that the student wishes to learn. Vocalization is for me a moment with oneself, a kind of mindfulness meditation. Singing causes a very enjoyable inner vibration. Come and discover your own voice and its possibilities with me. I am a lyric singer (mezzosoprano) and I give lessons for all levels in French, English, German and Dutch. I am a lyrical singer, mezzosoprano, with a classical training. After starting my studies in Brussels, Belgium, I moved to Berlin, to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. This is where I got to take lessons with some of the most important singers and pianists in the business, in such an inspiring city. After living in Berlin for 2 years, I spent 6 months in New York, before coming to Switzerland in September 2019 to finish my master's degree in lyric singing at the Haute École de Musique. Apart from my training, I have already sung recitals and festivals in Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Brussels and Vienna. I also participated in many international singing competitions; in Europe and the United States. I am especially passionate about classical music, specifically opera, but at the same time I also adore jazz, musical, and all other genres. My goal in giving singing lessons is to help you find and develop your own voice. I want to help you become as free as possible by singing, so that singing becomes even more fun and you feel able to do with your voice what YOU want to do. In my teaching I try as much as possible to follow the path that the student wants to lead. Before even starting the course we will agree on the purpose of the course and the path to take. In my approach to singing I focus a lot on the body, breathing and their coordination. This means, to start with information about the body, its functionality and also the corresponding exercises. I prefer to act slowly in my teaching - with an adapted repertoire, and exercises that warm the voice gently.
