With thirteen years' teaching experience, in universities, private institutes, secondary schools and as a private tutor, I have a PhD in Comparative Literature and a broad understanding of learning techniques and approaches. With expertise across English and Anglophone Literature, theory and criticism, Comparative and French Literature, different exams and curricula, I feel confident helping you achieve your aims, whether personal, professional, or exam based. My research focuses on contemporary poetry, postcolonial literature, music and popular culture, ecopoetry and nature writing. I have taught a whole range of periods, movements and critical approaches. I also have many years' experience teaching English as a second language, including conversation skills for different contexts. I also teach writing skills, both professional and academic (including essay writing), and am happy to tailor classes to specific aims (for an event, a presentation, an interview, a specific professional field). I think that teaching works best when it works on your level: you can learn English through discussion of music, TV series, books, and more - I am happy to integrate grammar and learning points into this. In terms of Literature, we can approach a book, author, poem, play, theoretical work, movement or moment, together, and in different ways, drawing on the classes and materials I have developed over ten years in leading Parisian universities (I have also worked in the British and US university contexts). I am also happy to teach creative writing skills - particularly poetry and non-fiction, so please feel free to ask about this, too!

Singing and Songwriting can be a wonderful profession or mode of creative expression and some weekly scheduling in of practise and consistency will always improve and widen your knowledge and skills. I offer regular or one off classes with a focus on voice work, scales, Indian classical scales and songs. Each regular session we will work on the voice and finding your unique voice, developing singing technique, working on a song of choice. Where requested, we can work on songwriting technique and style as well as lyrical choices. You will learn how to create regularity to your singing and improve your vocal capacity, bringing depth to how you sing your chosen songs or allowing you to create your own compelling material that you can work on yourself or take to musicians.

I can aid students from preschool to IGCSE/GCSE level in English, Verbal Reasoning, and essay writing. Having achieved an A* in both English Language and English literature, I am passionate about teaching children how to love the subject and excel in their examinations. I have tutored English in the past to both preschool and IGCSE pupils, offering a dynamic and interactive teaching style that helps nurture a child's love for English and creative writing. I have access to the poetry pamphlet taught in most schools for IGCSE, but can access whatever syllabus is needed for a specific exam. I also have created several worksheets for students who are learning English as their second language. Having studied French, German, and Latin at school, I am aware of the etymology of many words which will allow students to connect meanings across their language to understand the literature fully. In my free time, I write poetry and novels and can share many teachings I learnt on a creative writing course I undertook in 2016.

In this class, we'll work on shaping new drafts whilst learning about international poetic forms as well as producing some free verse work. We'll edit our material and, if we have multiple sessions, we'll put together a brief collection! We will explore the world of the senses, memories, and connect to language in a new, profound way. My course is not prescriptive, and we'll meet your voice wherever you're at right now. You'll be taught by a published poet with work experience in the UK and North America. I've taught Creative Writing to university students at a world-leading school, and worked with younger audiences, and I'm happy to work with a variety of forms in English. I studied for my MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia, and won a scholarship as the strongest poet in my cohort.

After studying English Literature at the University of Liverpool, I am comfortable discussing a wide range of literary texts from plays to poems to novels from Shakespearean texts to the modern day.

I am an accomplished author and performance poet with two published poetry anthologies. My work as a poet not only involves writing but also performing, bringing the art of spoken word to life and engaging diverse audiences. Alongside my creative endeavors, I have a strong background in education. I have taught poetry and Sociology to both young people and adult learners, facilitating a deeper understanding and appreciation of these subjects. Through my teaching, I strive to inspire others to find their voices and explore the power of words, while also providing insight into the complexities of human society through the lens of Sociology.

Poetry is the Power and Conflict spec. Also, there will be tutoring on A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls and Macbeth. We will go through the material together, analyse the themes and characters and do exam practice. Practice makes perfect !
