Innovative and interactive online math tutoring
Welcome, my name is Nicola, I have a degree in mathematics and I offer online mathematics tutoring to students throughout Italy through the combined use of an interactive multimedia whiteboard, which allows me and the students to interact in a simple and innovative way, and Skype which is used to speak directly. Ho deciso di dare ripetizioni di matematica perchè la matematica mi appassiona molto e mi piace trasmettere ai miei studenti oltre le mie conoscenze, anche la mia visione della matematica. Purtroppo sia nelle scuole che all'università la maggior parte dei docenti tende a dare per scontate molte cose, senza tenere conto che gran parte degli studenti, chi per un motivo, chi per un altro, ha delle lacune da colmare, e purtroppo con questo meccanismo non permettono agli studenti di apprendere la matematica in modo adeguato. Questo lo posso dire con certezza poichè l'ho provato in prima persona, e quindi capisco molto bene gli studenti che si trovano in difficoltà. Il modo migliore per far apprendere la matematica sia agli studenti della scuole che agli studenti universitari, è far cimentare loro con essa fin dall'inizio, perchè non c'è modo migliore che focalizzare l'apprendimento sull'allievo stesso, ovvero tirare fuori le conoscenze dall'alunno non soltanto spiegandogli gli argomenti in modo meccanico, ma anche ponendolo continuamente di fronte a quesiti e problemi relativi all'argomento, e cercando di fargli svolgere in maniera autonoma anche gli esercizi. Infatti è proprio questo il mio metodo di insegnamento, cerco sempre di far innescare in loro il ragionamento critico, che è esattamente quello che serve per imparare la matematica, e una volta acquisito questo ragionamento critico, lo studente non ha più bisogno dell'insegnante e può procedere da solo nel suo percorso di apprendimento. Quindi è questo il mio obiettivo principale, fare in modo che lo studente prima o poi acquisisca la metodologia che gli permetta di essere indipendente nello studio della matematica. Chiaramente questo dipende da studente a studente, per alcuni può essere un processo più rapido, per altri no, dipende da una serie di fattori relativi allo studente stesso. Una cosa certa è che chiunque può farlo, indipendentemente dal livello a cui si trova e dalle sue attitudini. Ciò che aiuta a velocizzare questo processo di acquisizione della metodologia è sicuramente uno studio dedito, attento e costante, perchè senza di questo i tempi di acquisizione diventano molto più lunghi.
COME EFFETTUO LE MIE LEZIONI ONLINE?
Le mie lezioni non sono le usuali lezioni online tramite webcam, ma si effettuano mediante l'utilizzo della lavagna interattiva bitpaper, il cui utilizzo è totalmente gratuito e non ha bisogno di installazione, e mediante skype che serve solo ed esclusivamente per potersi sentire a voce.
PROCEDURA PER SVOLGERE LE LEZIONI
Per poter svolgere la lezione, devo inviare allo studente un link (o tramite email, o tramite whatsapp o tramite skype) su cui deve cliccare e una volta aperto il link lo studente può subito accedere alla lavagna. In questa lavagna interattiva possiamo scrivere sia io che lo studente, quindi è consigliabile avere una tavoletta grafica, la quale permette di scrivere su di essa come se si stesse scrivendo in un comune foglio. Volendo è possibile anche scrivere con il mouse sulla lavagna, quindi non è strettamente necessario avere una tavoletta grafica per scrivere, però la tavoletta grafica permette di scrivere in maniera più comoda. La tavoletta grafica si può acquistare o nei negozi di elettronica, oppure su internet dove ci sono anche offerte di tavolette grafiche a basso prezzo. Non è necessario avere una tavoletta grafica molto sofisticata, basta semplicemente una tavoletta grafica che permetta di scrivere sul pc come se si stesse scrivendo con una normale penna su un quaderno. La lavagna interattiva ha molteplici funzioni, come la possibilità di caricare immagini e documenti, o utilizzare vari strumenti di scrittura, come disegnare in modo preciso delle figure geometriche, oppure poter decidere il colore della penna con cui si scrive e degli evidenziatori, di poter salvare il contenuto delle lezioni su file pdf e tante altre ancora; tutto questo non avviene in una lezione dal vivo, poichè in una lezione dal vivo non c'è la possibilità di inviare file di qualunque tipo e non c'è neanche la possibilità di poter cambiare il colore della penna e di disegnare in modo preciso dei grafici e delle figure geometriche.
LA LEZIONE ONLINE E' EFFICACE?
Con questo tengo a sottolineare il fatto che è assolutamente falso pensare che una lezione a domicilio sia più efficace di una lezione online come la effettuo io. Le lezioni a domicilio sono preferibili alle mie lezioni online solo nei seguenti casi:
- gli studenti delle elementari essendo ancora piccoli hanno bisogno di una presenza fisica che oltre a spiegargli la materia li tenga sotto controllo, gli studenti delle scuole medie invece sono perfettamente in grado di poter seguire una lezione online, infatti do ripetizioni online anche a studenti
